How Did The Giants Do It?

The Pack blew them out by 22 at the Meadowlands.

Then they go into Lambeau, dominate the Pack in time of possession and yardage, and beat the Pack in sub zero temperatures?

I didn't think it was humanly possible to beat a team on the road that you lost to by 22 pts at home earlier in the year. I can't recall it ever being done. Have the Giants really gotten THAT much better? Or is it just that they choked less then the other 5 teams that made the playoffs in the NFC?

Teams play in December is a key indicator going into the post season.

We did our December swoon and were trouted. They manned up and beat Packers on the road.

At the time he was killed for going after Patriots in finale after injuries. In hindsight it lit a fire under the Giants going into playoffs.

Elli played better minus that azzwipe Shockey.

Yeah I think Shockey gets in his head, plus the other guy seems to be better..

they have veteran leaders,a lot more heart than the cowboys, they were more focused, they're not a bunch of mental midgets like this team is, and finally they wanted it more.

What are you talking about? The game was 14-13 going into the 4th quarter. The Packers only out-threw the Giants by 50 yards, and the Giants outran them by 10 yards.

One of the TDs in the 4th came on a fumble by Bradshaw on the kick-off.
The Giants just wilted in the 4th quarter...

Isn't the question just as pertinent to the Chargers-Pats game? Early season blowout followed by playoff game nail-biter.

Or perhaps more painfully, I believe the Niners humiliated us in the 81 regular season but it took "The Catch" (ouch!) to pull it out for them in the playoffs.

I think there is a lot to the emotional drain angle on Romo on TO. Team just lost a spark in December. A few injuries and lack of leadership did us in.

We need to tweak the veteran core a little bit -

wink wink ----> Flo and Roy

Nail-biter? The Pats were just playing around with SD...they were never in real danger of losing.

How'd the Giants do it? Eli was judicious with the football. Their front four got a great pass rush, and their secondary didn't forget how to tackle.

Against US they did not make many mistakes and we made a bundle. Game over. Against the Pack they got their O in gear and just kept moving the ball in the second half while their D stuffed grant and Favre reverted to type and put it up for grabs. No mYstery in either game. The team that played better and made fewer mistakes won.

The Giants had several issues to start the season-Strahan wasn't in game shape, they were learning a completely different D scheme, Amani Toomer was rusty and not fully recovered from a major knee injury a year ago, Ahmad Bradshaw/Steve Smith weren't playing and barely getting his feet wet, ditto Aaron Ross, Corey Webster wasn't quite ready to be a decent cover corner, Eli still had a bum shoulder, Jacobs was hurt, etc.

Now come Dec and beyond, the Giants know Steve Spags' schemes like a telephone book, Toomer is playing like his old chain-man self, Bradshaw and Smith finally got the system down, Ross has turned out to be a stud, Webster finally comes into his own, and Eli/Jacobs are healthy.

Oh...maybe it takes some young players longer than others, but baby-Manning probably has finally ripened.

And BTW-the Packers are HUGELY over-rated. They're just fortunate to be in the crummy NFCN.
