Sorry if there is a thread on this already (did not see one). How did the starting DL and Igor look last night?

I didnt see the very beggining of the game so I'm not sure...But I was following on play by play and the raiders drove down the field on their first drive. But I didnt see it so somebody that watched the beggining please chime in.

Actually, they DIDN'T "drive down the field" on the 1st team D. The Raiders received a somewhat shaky PI call on Sensabaugh when the WR basically ran up his back. The next time the Raiders got the ball, they punted. The only person that the Raiders were moving the ball on was Alan Ball.

Ratty abused Sateli a couple of times.

Igor and Spears didn't do anything special, but they didn't exactly do anything bad either.

They were only on the field for about 10 plays total, so it's not like they had that much opportunity to impress.

And that Alan Ball is the #4 corner, I'd say our defense played well.

It isn't like we are going to be showing anything in preseason. I say if they are holding the line we shouldn't have anything to worry about. I didn't see Igor get pancaked, so no worries..

The Raiders ran at Igor twice. One went for 2 yards, and the other went for a 1-yard loss (wiped out by a holding penalty on the right guard).

I know that Ratliff has played great at NT, but am I the only 1 that wishes that IGOR was the NT? That is his strength - stopping the run, with a decent amount of pass-rushing ability. I just keep having a vison of a starting D-line of:

LE - Ratliff (put him on the OPPOSITE side of Ware, which should really help Spencer even more)
NT - Igor (a NT name Igor - it just sounds right and scary)
RE - Spears (being aligned on Ware's side should help him better his pass-rush)

I think that this scenario would a) make the middle of the D even more stout against the run WHILE b) enhancing the pass rush.

Thoughts?

IF igor can play that position well then that would be a strong look for dallas. I agree with the idea.

Chris Canty would've held them to at least a -20 on those.

Just saying.

Igor is good against the run. He was in San Diego, he will be in Dallas. As for the rush he relies on his strength alone which only works against some O-linemen, and not the good ones. He is above average at his position and for what you paid for him he will be worth it.

Spears could have wiped Russell out on the play where he scrambled down field, he "had" a kill shot but took a really bad angle and completely missed him.

That was a pretty iffy PI call, little contact and he was looking back for the ball. Plus it was kind of a jump ball anyway. Both Spencer and Ware were being held on that play as well.
