I spent 30 minutes glancing at forums of 3 other generally beloved and well regarded franchises. I was curious to see how the tone of fans would compare to those here. I freely admit I cherry picked a bit.

I’ll do 3 teams in installments. First the Green Bay Packers.

Fan posts on the Packer’s prospects for up-coming season:

I still don't think this team has that killer instinct. Can't win when it counts. We have this super weird ambience of a skilled team with a losing mentality.

I'll take 11-5 since nobody said it yet above.... They will be good on Rodgers' arm, a better running game, and an upgraded TE rotation. However, I think that our defense will struggle in the first half of the season and face it's annual crush of injuries. I see us sniffing the title game but likely just losing in the divisional round. Same old, same old.

11-5 with a +/- of 2 games. With Pack getting bounced in Divisional round.

An ability to FINISH. This team doesn't have that.

Agree, but we only have ourselves TT to blame for this.

Think we may need to fire Joe Whitt before this defense gets completely fixed to win the SB.

The lack of a killer mentality has been evident in recent years. They get a lead and MM goes into “play not to lose”

Pittsburgh Steelers:

On Tomlin:

———

Do you ever bother to listen to Tomlin anymore?

No. And neither do the players.

It's time to put up or shut up. I've grown weary of Tomlin’s worn-out cliches. If Mason Rudolph turns out to be the next franchise QB and the Steelers win #7 and Tomlin gets his 2nd ring... my overall opinion of him will improve. Until then... Tomlin needs to **** and coach.

tomlin is a great regular season coach, but at times he tries to pretend he makes these gutsy calls but in reality he lives in his fears and puckers up lol.

How exactly is it relevant to compare when only the Cowboys are saddled with a lunatic owner acting as his own GM for decades with his son ready to take over when he dies?

We shouldn't act like any other fan.

While ALL of that is true, those forums aren't even that busy during game week. We can have an active forum just talking about who's better.....Tapper or Gregory?! ;)

I feel that we at CZ are handsomer but not as bright, me and @Melonfeud excluded.

Well the cowboys are the most loved and most hated team...and half of our own fans seem to hate the team they love....look no further than this forum for your proof. No need to consider nor care about other teams boards.

The hate level goes for some as goes the team. before 2014 the level was getting extremely high on here, more so than usual. Then BOOM (in a John Madden voice) 12-4, and man this place, the hater cockroaches were minimal, they went away. Then the injury riddled 2015, many were back at the glory of losing even though they knew why...then 2016, many were gone, then last year many were back, just as this off season they are back out of the wood work.

I have been down on them more than usual, something I rarely did for a long time. But more so from the stupid coaching decisions last year, and ignoring certain positions in the draft this year. Decided not to buy the lip service this year. But still do not hate the team and will see more good the bad. But have a show me on the field attitude for this year.

We could ask CPanther, who has the better board, since he is a stealers fan but spends a lot of time here cutting jokes. Lol. I always look forward to seeing his posts even on the other board that closed down on dallascowboys.com.

Every board is roughly the same, sans maybe the Browns.

Miami board is/was worse than this board when it comes to freakouts and random player bashing.

The like/hate for Tannehill makes the Dak stuff look insignificant

Better talent evaluators than the FO
Know more than the coaching staff
Sometimes when a house is on fire its hard to think rational. (meaning the coaches and front office) Thats why so many on here have made statements that are true and recognize faults in the team. Just because we arent coaches doesnt mean we havent learned to recognize talent from watching football for 40 years. It didnt take many of us long to recognize that as good of a QB that Romo appeared to be he was also a choker. Now everyone chokes but at different levels and I knew Romo was never going to lead Dallas to a SB regardless of having a team around him or not. Just like some of us can see Dak doesnt have the arm or accuracy regardless of what the stats say he needs all stars around him for this offense to even work. It just takes some people a little longer than others to see this.

There’s a cackle of “we choke” “we fade” “we have no heart” fans on most team forum.

The reality is only 1 out of 32 teams win each season. Try those odds when going on a job interview. Suppose you are in the top 10. Odds are still 10 to 1 against you!

Fans work up narratives in their own mind. Sometimes they are true. Very often not.
