How do they trade up for Pitts

If you wanted to try to move up to insure you get Pitts (not saying that I want to), I’d have to let it get to about Detroit’s pick at 7 before making a move. If Atlanta wanted Pitts at 4 (or Cincy at 5), you’d just have to let him go there because the cost would be too exorbitant to go up that high.

However, moving from 10 to 7 might not cost that much and if I wanted him that bad, I’d explore that with the Lions.

I can see ways where Pitts can fall down to Dallas but it isn’t likely and IMO, if he starts getting to 7,8,9... then the danger would be someone like Philly making a trade up to around those picks to steal him.

Like Daniel Jeremiah said today, he is the type of talent that will induce a team to move up and give up some picks to get him.

I don’t think that Detroit (7), Carolina (8), or Denver (9) will take Pitts because:
  • Detroit just spent a top 10 pick on TJ Hockenson and needs WR badly. They’d likely have their pick of Waddle and Smith most likely. One of those two should be there at 10 as well.
  • Carolina is hot after a QB, although they could go TE.
  • And Denver just spent a first on Noah Fant and they love his backup as well. Plus they love Parson I hear.

However, IMO there is a good chance he goes in those picks to a trade up.

So, I think if Dallas wants him that much they’d have to do something like move to pick 7. With the needs on defense though, they’d have to really love him to move up like that.

Truth is, Pitts is unlikely to land in Dallas.

1000%..........Exactly why I see no way in hell he gets to 10. I'm willing to bet at least 2-3 teams have pre-draft agreements with the Broncos to trade up if he drops to 9. If this happens, I can easily see the Giants or Eagles making the move.

They could take Pitts for sure, but I’ve heard a few people on the NFL Network talking about Atlanta taking a QB. Scott Pioli was saying how much both Lance and Fields fit the offense that Arthur Smith is bringing to Atlanta. He said they fit it a lot more than Ryan does and he said how long might it be before they’re in place to get one of the top QB prospects. Plus, he mentioned that next years QB class isn’t looking all that hot.

Doesn’t mean it will happen of course, but it certainly isn’t a slam dunk that they won’t take a QB.

Today, Daniel Jeremiah said as a former scout he’s heard plenty of front office guys saying that they’d take a B- prospect at QB over an A+ prospect anywhere else because QB is so important and you rarely have a shot at the one’s that go in the top 5. He also said that new regime’s like to get their own QB as quickly as possible.

And someone on there mentioned a few days ago that they think Atl could use Ryan this season and then trade him next year when Lance/Fields is ready to start.

I’m just saying that the lure of the QB sometimes makes teams do things they probably shouldn’t.

We’ll know in a month, I suppose.

Atlanta taking a qb is absolutely in play. However, it has been my understanding that Atlanta wants Lance, if SF takes Lance at 3, maybe that forces Atl to go w Pitts.

I wouldnt do it even though i love Pitts, oue D is one of the most talent deficient in the league.

No trade up for a TE makes sense and it would take more than picks, they'd have to give up Cooper or Gallup+ and either CIN or ATL will take him, if CIN passes on Chase or Sewell.

Just in the last two weeks, Pitts' legend has grown with his measurables seducing any team not in dire need of a QB. His pro day cemented him in at top 5.

With Gallup and Lamb, I might be willing to move up dealing Cooper and his salary but not for a TE, I'd be after that next franchise LT. I got 160M in a QB, I need more protection for my investment. I would deal Cooper and 10 but not that 2nd pick, need that for the D.

Might CIN look at Cooper and how he helped the Cowboys young QB? They'd still have the 10 pick for another WR and take a huge step for Burrow.
