How do we get another 2nd round pick?

I think we need a pair of 2nd round picks in order to secure our two top positions of need (IMO): DT and SS.

Would you give up our #97 (4th) plus a 2010 2nd plus a 2010 4th or 5th to get New England's #47 (2nd) this year. This way we can almost ensure a top-flight SS (Smith or Chung) and Ron Brace. I think this will be key to our draft success.

Can't we just trade more of this years picks to move up?

we can give up our third,4th,6th to get back into the second round again.

We would have..
2 2nd rounders(Brace and Sean Smith)
4th(Mckillop)
5th(Sidbury)
Comp 5th
6th(Trade for 2010 pick)
Comp 6th
2 7th rounders

I would be thrilled if we did that..I really hope they are thinking of having 2 2nd rounders. We have the firepower to do it. Quality not Quantity in this years draft.

not our third, because the 3rd round is the start of the 2nd day in drafting, some players fall after first day, that maybe where you want an extra pick in 3rd round,

I definitely agree with you on the urgency of having 2 second round picks. Brace plus a starting SS I think are the keys to our draft success this year. BTW... are you SlateTheGreat from the scout site? Also, what do you think of Derek Walker, DE from Illinois in the 5th? He needs to put on about 15lbs to play DE in the 3-4, but I'm sure he could do it.

No way I would do that unless it was for a high second.

The 3rd is the first overall pick of that round.
No way I'd give up that much for 10 spots or so.

Its possible if not probably both Smith and Brace are gone before out first pick.

Ya I think it's critical that we move up and have 2 2nd rounders. If 2 guys are still available that are high on your draft board you make no hesitation and grab them. Brace and Sean Smith can come in and start right away while filling two key positions.

SlatetheGreat? Hmm..maybe?:laugh2:

Derek Walker is pretty solid. I'm not sure if I'd take him in the 5th though..more like the 6th. If Sidbury is there in the 5th then I take him no questions asked. Speed rusher that gets to the QB in a hurry and can back up Spencer and replace Ellis.

It's actually the 5th overall in round 3. I'm assuming we move up to picks 37-40 and still stand still at 51

That would make it appealing then yes.

Getting a guy we normally would have no shot at is worth that draft cache.

That's what I'm saying. If a guy is there within reasonable grasp and he's high on your board you GOT to make a move. Having 2 second rounders is just at good as a first rounder (16-32) IMO.

no what i would do is this, you have 2 fourths, 2 fives and a 6th, possibly a 5th and 6th in compensation picks.

Again, the first day is just the 1st and 2nd round. There will be players there on the 2nd day, top of the draft, where you can get a good player, remember the cowboys got jason witten with about the 8th pick when witten was selected,

so keep that high 3rd of clevelands

if you have to, move the 4th's and 5th and 6th to move up, or maybe a player like bobby carpenter, along with crayton or someone to help you move up if you have too.

i do agree smith and brace would be good, heck, even duke robinson and brace or smith would be super too. Keep that 3rd rounder though.

teams will try to trade with you like mad, for a high pick in that 3rd round. And even if you dont trade, you will most likely get a good super player in that hight spot in 3rd round.

Moving up and getting another 2nd round pick would be impossible without giving up that third rounder. I get what your saying, it's just I'd rather get two 2nd rounders and the top pick in the 4th than a 2nd,3rd and top pick in the 4th.
