if you were BP what would you do?

I'd personally put anthony henry on him and tell anthony to play rough with him. i'd keep the free safety playing deep on randy's side at all times, cause moss will kill henry 1 on 1. then i'd let newman keep porter out of the game and blitz the heck out of kerry collins. im talking massive blitzing from everywhere.

If Switzer was here he could just pull out his gun that would do the trick. LOL I think you try and contain but your not going to shut down Moss. I do disagree with the ideal of being physical with him Moss likes it when he can feel the defender on him it gives him a since of where the man is.

well i suspect we'll line up our cb's up like we do every week and let them play whoever is playing on their side, i've always hated that about our d. its like we got no gameplan. if we dont play physical with moss we should definitely use newman then cause henry will get burnt.

One thing we HAVE to do to have any success is to not let Moss get tons of yardage AFTER the catch.

The entire secondary needs to tackle better, esp. Henry after the last game.

How do we stop randy moss?

Get him so high before the game that he just sort of "walks around" on every play. Like those plays where he knows the ball isn't coming his way, for instance.

We don't stop moss. We stop Collins. Put him on his back and Moss can't be a factor. Now, can we get to Collins with a 4 man rush? Doubt it.

So we blitz. Do we zero cover the Raiders? No, they have receivers who can get over that top against bump and run in a hurry. So, I say we adopt the Eagles style of defense for this game. Zone blitz. Confuse and disrupt with quick pressure for various angles. Give up some of the short to medium routes while never giving up deep patterns (keep 3 deep, come up and hit/tackle.)

Collins will find the open man most of the time, but as long as we don't give up the deep ball we have a chance to disrupt the rythm and timing of the Norv offense.

So, I'm all for the blitz with 3 deep coverage.

intersting.......but I think playing Newman on him the whole game can do the trick!! Newman knows how to get physical, but if we want him to back off the line some, he wont get burned, well he shouldnt. Newman is pretty fast, I think he can keep up with Moss at least enough to make some good plays on the ball, even if he is a step behind him!

I think the only way we'll stop Moss is pressuring Collins consistently, as someone else already said.

I still prefer the idea of performing a stealth insertion of some special blend brownies in Moss's locker before the game though.

One way of controlling moss is by keeping him off the field. by that i mean having a ball controlled offense with a strong running game. he can't hurt us if we have 10 or 12 play drives throught the game

I'd double him no matter if it is Henry or Newman, both guys will need help over the top. I think it would be a big mistake to go after Moss on single coverage

Newman is fast but has now feel for the game and lacks the ball hawking instincts. He insn't very good at looking for the ball either. Moss isn't only a great athlete but has just instincts and a feel for the ball. He is the kind of receiver you just lob the ball and he will make the play. So i don't think Newman is a good idea.

I haven't really thought about how to stop Moss but if i had to think about a schema to stop the Raiders offense the first thing that comes up my mind is "don't make such a big deal about Moss". Really, i think we shouldn't pay to much attention to Moss. Moss can't be stopped. For that he is to good of a WR. Better try to stop the Raiders offense as a whole, not only one player.

Collins has been trying to force the ball in there to Moss regardless of coverage since the season started. If you pressure Collins that's usually where he's going to go with it, if he doesn't fumble or throw an interception.

I think it not just the CB that covers Moss, but Its gonna come down to the safety and the help over the top. THAT IS GONNA BE THE FACTOR....

Stop him? Doubtful. Though what we did against TO last season in Philly is a good model (not the horse collar part).

If a CB is shadowing Moss it should be Newman - Moss has superhuman speed and he'd leave Henry in the dust. Whoever covers him is in for a tough day.
