How do you evaluate the competition?

This is something I'm interested to here others' take on: What will our competition bring? Will it be easy to dominate and win the division; or will it be a fight to the end?

NFC East rivals' commentary is welcome! (could bring some good debate)

(Try not to troll; I know it's hard, but be attempt to make intelligent remarks. I know you're Eagles and Skins fans, but just try .... )

You can break it down position by position, evaluate coaches/styles, position specific analysis using stats, team stats, or anything using facts; opinions are welcome, too.

Fire away.

I don't think it will be a run away at all. This is going to be a tough division this year with all of the roster moves each team in the East has made. I think the Commanders will make things tough (just being honest.)

OK, but how so?

Do you think they had a better draft? Do you think they made better FA acquisitions; better coaching; overall personnel; offense defense?

Explain yourself.

Well, I'm not talking for Austin28, but the RedStinks will be better this year and win the SuperBowl. If you don't believe me, go to ExtremeStinks.com and ask little Art!

I think that the Giants are going to be our main competition. Eli I believe is going to get better. They're defensive line is just insane with Stahan and Osi. I don't see the Eagles winning the division just because of their lack of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. McNabb doesn't really have a go to guy. The Commanders are way overhyped. Saying that Brandon Lloyd or Randle El are going to be impact recievers is a joke. These two are very, very mediocre recievers. Plus, I don't think Brunell can hold up for the entire year. I see the Cowboys and the Giants contending for the division title at the end of the year. Both have explosive playmakers.

I really do not see Manning as ever being even close to what his brother is. The ACCURACY is just not there.

Nor the mental grasp of the game.

I like Eli, and think he'll be a good QB, but not a great one.

The Giants are the front runners in my opinion. They have a very nice and balanced offense. Eli is a year older and wiser. They have improved their secondary and should battle us to the finish.

The Skins are scary too. Arguable the best coaching staff in Football (Saunders and Williams especially. Gibbs is overated imo) They have a dynamic defense and improving offense. Their season hinges on their QB.

Philly is not as deep as the other 3 teams in the NFCE...again imo. They do have some stars and should not be taken lightly, however they are a small step below the other 3 clubs.

I cannot wait for this year to start. We are in for some quality Football this year regardless of the outcome.

Well, Peyton hasn't done that either in Playoffs, when it matters most.

No arguement that Peyton does not seem to have it in the playoffs- but during the regular season he is a monster. Eli has not shown much of being able to do even that.

Actually he has...

2003...

Against Denver...

22 of 26, 377 yards, 5 TDs, no INTs, Win 41-10.

Against Kansas City...

22 of 30, 304 yards, 3 TDs, no INTs, Win 38-31 on the road.

2004...

Against Denver...

27 of 33, 457 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT, Win 49-24.

Even in last year's loss to Pittsburgh he was decent.

He hasn't done it in a Super Bowl where it matters most and given his brilliance that is the only place he will be measured by. Is that fair? I don't know, but it's reality.

Sorry Hos, when two of those wins are against Denver, you dont have a pretty argument there. Is he a good QB to HOF QB? Yes, because he will get voted on stats alone.

And when I mean when it counts most, I mean when Colts are supposed to win, but kind of evenly matched, or people think they are evenly matched, he doesn't deliver. Not only that, the gestures and frustration he shows, clearly effects his team.

If you make a case for Peyton based on three wins in Post season, then you can easily make case of Eli being a comback kid, sorta, when he won few games when team was trailing in fourth quarter. Like Aikman said, at some point, if Peyton keeps failing in playoffs when its matters most, you have say that Peyton fails when pressure is on. I say the same thing about Marvin Harrison in playoffs.

Peyton and the Colts are fine until they run into a physical team like Pitt or NE. Once that happens, they get bullied and Peyton has a little trouble holding things together.

Being physical and hard nosed is definately the way to beat Indy.

I think the competition goes something like this.

1) Parcells' old team will provide the most competition at first glance, but experience at QB along with our offensive weapons will prove too much to match us in points. Not to mention our defense will be better this year. - I think we win out 2-0 though; just a feeling.

2)I think we OWN the Commanders. 2-0 - End of story.

3)Despite being the worst team in the NFC East, the E-girls gain a moral victory by a fluke upset; none the less, we dominate the NFC East and secure home field advantage with a superior record; 12-4 to end the season.

That is irrelevant to the argument though RCF. The statement was he hasn't done anything in the playoffs where it matters. Denver was still a playoff team and many would argue that beating KC in KC that year was equivalent to Pittsburgh beating Indy last year, a huge upset. If I remember right KC was favored by 7.5 in that game. They were that good that year.

Bottom line in those 3 games he proved he has done "something" in the playoffs. I'm not talking about the 3 wins. I'm talking about the fact he was amazing in those 3 wins. He hasn't made it to a Super Bowl yet and I honestly think 2005 was his best shot. But to say he's done nothing in the playoffs is dishonest.

I'd take any one of those 3 games for our QB in the playoffs and some of the ones that Indy lost as well. Has he been stellar every time? No, and I never said he was. The fact remains in the playoffs he has had some stellar games that other QBs will never sniff.
