Yup. This is a great pick. IF we build the DLine w/ the rest of it. If not, it doesn't matter. As usual.
It would take a miracle for them not to cut Smith next year. And that was before ParsonsIt forces one to answer the question:
Who’s the bust?
Who’s the player they wasted significant investment in?
#34 overall pick Jaylon Smith? He of the huge second contract?
2018 1st round pick Leighton Vander Esch?
Or Parsons himself?
Which of these three huge investments is not on the field enough to justify the cost?
It’s going to be one of them because this league no longer plays a game where you line up three linebackers a large percentage of the time.
And I don’t even have to mention Keanu Neal fo I? Reportedly set to play weak side linebacker?
So the Cowboys can NEVER get the return on investment from what they’ve put into the position.
I don’t hate the player, I hate poor decision making.
Easy answer here...it's moving on from Jaylon or LVE.
Every team misses on picks...let's move along.
This is me as well. We don't have any semblance of a roster building philosophy. We're all flavor-of-the-month and shiny objects; sprinkle in Stephen's hoarding and bargain shopping for free agents and we're always just a not-quite-good enough team.I don’t hate the player, I hate poor decision making.

Agreed but don't underestimate the emotional and egotistical attachment Jerry has to both the drafting of, and second-contract rewarding of Jaylon Smith. It would take a miracle for them not to cut Smith next year. And that was before Parsons

He is almost a 12 million dollar cap hit in 2022. I don't think his own mother loves him that muchAgreed but don't underestimate the emotional and egotistical attachment Jerry has to both the drafting of, and second-contract rewarding of Jaylon Smith.
He can. Like it now?Dislike it

Yeah, he's not good at this whole football thing.Don’t leave out Stephen’s horrible player negotiations. He’s mishandled the last several big deals he’s made. He’d have been fired anywhere else.
So he’s the bust then.
#34 pick overall and two years of big money on top of it. Great work Cowboys.
Yes, but that doesn't mean they arent in 2022. They probably wanted to give him a season to turn it aroundDidn’t they have the option to cut him just a few weeks ago?
Him and Vander Esh are busts. Hard to argue either arentSo he’s the bust then.

Correct...never should have extended him but you can't knock Parsons for that.
He's Jaylon pre-injury + instincts as a prospect which is a top 10 talent.
