I need to get some ideas of how you prefer to get your music.

Do you prefer to buy CDs either at the store or concerts or...

Do you prefer downloads in mp3 format for listening on your portable device?

Please add any comments you have regarding your choice and ideas you might have regarding the music industry in regards to distribution.

Thanks in advance.

depends, ive bought ~10-15 cds at concerts only for the bands autograph. Ive spent ~ 100-150$ at the itunes music store and ruffly 900 on cds from target, fye and other music stores and a few illegal ways for a few songs for the ladies.

i have 4900 songs 13.4 days of non stop music all adding up to about 30 gigs of data space

I have never paid to download a song.

I have a good amount of CDs when I could afford to buy them all the time. Have not bought any in some time.

However if I had to do it I would prefer to buy it CDs over MP3s....even though MP3s are cheaper.

I also like to rip the cds to my computer to transfer to the Ipod. Make backups of the cds to play in my car so I don't have to worry about them getting ruined or stolen.

And I guess I am old school in the idea I would like the liner in the jewel case as opposed to getting a jpg of it. So you can see the lyrics or liner notes easier.

Now I would never download any MP3s from the internet I did not pay for first.;) ;)

So confusing I guess but I prefer the CDs, but I guess if you wanted to save some money you could just download them from Itunes or a similar site.

LP's.

I kid.

I download music onto my IPod.:)

LPs and 8 tracks.

I remember getting shipments from Columbia house in LPs, well those were my dads but I think I listened to them more than he did.

Also for those that remember, K-Tel used to be huge for putting out Hits collections.

I also remember we used to have loads of 8 tracks. My mother used to kill me playing Freddy Fender. Eventually I threw that thing away and never told her.:laugh2:

If you bought the Cds for autographs only, if there were an alternative that gave you the music in download form but also gave you something unique to have autographed would you be more apt to purchase the Cd or the other item. The cost would be either the same or a little less for the download option.

would the unique item be an actual signature of a "signature" that comes on baseball cards? if its an actual signature I would lean towards that option. Cost wouldn't matter as i've paid from 10 bucks for an album to 50 for a box set of cds.

Depends. If its the type of music I want to listen to in my car.....punk rock, thrash metal, indie rock, or indie hip hop...i usually just download it from itunes or steal it from a friend's stash.

If it's something I consider special, I try and find it on vinyl first. I just found a record I've been looking for for years on vinyl...and the rare stuff just doesn't sound as good on cd for some reason.

Finally bought the iphone. This thing is unreal. It's like an entirely new technology to me.

And the great things is, with all the new apps added literally daily there's constantly something new and cool to mess with. I think the best part is that old apps that I use are continually updated to add new features. Like the Google Mobile app that recently added voice recognition search. I'll rarely ever use it (except while driving), but it's just cool as heck that one day my phone didn't have voice recognition software and the next day it did -- for free.

DO any of you have any ideas that you would like to see implemented into downloads that you currently don't see or don't see enough of?

What would make them more attractive to you?

Hate to bump my own thread but I could use some more input from those who haven't seen it yet.

Thanks.
