How do you think defenses will gameplan for us?

Simple question. It seems like with the talent we have man defense isn’t an option. Teams would have to cover Lamb/Cooper/Gallup/Jarwin 1 on 1, sounds like a recipe for disaster. So do we see a lot of soft zones? Seems like Dak and Zeke would tear that up as well. Maybe teams send a lot of package blitzes and try to disguise coverages, just interested to hear what ya’ll think we can expect to see/play against. We saw last year, teams can’t cover Cooper/Gallup one on one

Bend don’t break.

Wait for our offense to do something stupid like get a penalty.

I think they see a lot of cover 3 and cover 4 looks.
Either that or wait for us to get into the redzone and take their chances at playing us with a shortened feel.

Depends on the defense im working with.

The big question on offense has to be the interior OL. Thats going to be the area where some teams can take advantage of mismatches. this could be a huge issue if our Tackles are not 100%

They will tremble in fear. They will give up trying to defend us. And will have yo pay the refs more $$$. :muttley:

Nice problem to have, can't remember the last time we had this kind of true fire power on offense.
2014 may be in that mix, but all was clicking at that time also. TOP helped the defense tremendously then. But may need to go back to the 90's SB teams to rival this.

I guess a disclaimer would be...rival the potential...

Best way to play an offense that can beat you 1 on 1 on the perimeter IMOis to bring pressure. Don’t give them time to win matchups downfield. So I would think lots of edge and A-gap blitzes to see how Looney/ our LG holds up and to try to catch Dak off guard on the edge.

Don’t know the stats off-hand but Dak seems to do ok with pressure, but it’s not ideal for any QB. I agree on lots of zone, that or lots of press man and just bringing what you can most plays, betting you can get there early.

I'd expect to see lots of blitzing... But Dallas hasn't been entirely unique the last couple of years in the sense that they basically do what they do.

Having said that, I think teams will have to defend more play-to-play, than stick to an overall gameplan. This offense is basically impossibe to scheme to well for.

I wouldn’t blitz the Cowboys.. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

You would be giving Dallas even more favorable matchups if you blitz.

The key to stopping an offense like ours is just keeping everything in front of you.

So that is when you hope the run game can force a conservative defense to respect it and play up.

Yep...…….stop the run on first down, put them in long situations and then attack any weakness on the line. That's about all they can do.

Will be much harder to stop the run out of a spready formation and the unpredictability that we will now have with Garrett gone. Garrett ran right up the middle something like 80% of the time.

This Cowboys offense is not the first really good offense nor are they best ever assembled.

DC's will have a few twists in what they do but this offense isn't a juggernaut or unstoppable at this point.

DC's know they'll give up yards, just as they did last season but they also know that #1 O and #2 Passing O only won 8 games. They don't care about yards, only points, and this offense hasn't proven they are any better than last season in converting yards to points.....yet.

There seems to be an assumption on this board that the O will be better than last season and there's no proof of that yet.

It'll definitely be a lot more difficult to stack the box that stop the run with the addition of Lamb and a more athletic TE out there. Throw in Pollard and it could end up a nightmare.

I have a feeling we'll see a lot of Cover 3.

I think defense will play the Cowboys based on their own strength and weakness within their own defense. Week one Dallas will take on DC Brandon Staley who took over the job of Wade Phillips. With Donald up front who can bring pressure and be very disruptive the Cowboys will have their hands full. Secondary wise some NFL insiders think the Rams secondary may be the best in the league with Ramsey as their top CB. I like this opening challenge to start the season.
I do think week to week teams have to play to their own strength, it is easy to say play zone unless you are not a good zone coverage team.

Well if you have press corners you'll open yourself up for big plays, but otherwise you're asking the defense to just give up easy completions all day.

Hoping the offense makes a mistake is bsaically what Dallas has done for the last three years lol

Until Dallas proves they can beat it, I see teams sticking with the "load up the box" defense they have been going with for the last year or so. If they do beat it, teams will float all over trying different things to figure out something that works. You will see 3 deep, complex hybrid coverages, heavy blitzing, etc.

it will be interesting early because we are going to play 4 straight teams I believe playing the same defense.
Joe Barry Running the seattle/tamp scheme in LA
Raheem Morris/Dan Quinn Running the seattle defense in Atlanta
Ken Norton Jr./Pete Carol in Seattle
Joe Woods running the seattle/tampa scheme in Cleveland....he was in minnesota and tampa then last year in SF who also run the seattle scheme.

So It will be interesting to see how the offense does against similar scheme the first four weeks before the teams with more odd alignments and aggressive defense in the next few weeks after in NY, Arizona, Washington Philadelphia.

The Dallas passing attack is the reason why I believe Elliott will have a career year.

Teams will defense Dallas by covering their recievers and hope that they have to put together long drives hoping for mistakes that will stall those drives.

I see Elliott taking advantage of this philosophy and producing, especially in the red zone. I see him with 10 to 12 rushing touchdowns. That might be the floor.

I agree and I think if Dallas can make teams pay early on by loading the box that Zeke will end up with his best season thus far. Michael Irvin was saying this is the position Dallas wants to be in where teams have to choose their own poison. Do you let Zeke and the running game beat you or do you load up and allow the passing game to beat you.

Since 2017 the Broncos showed the way......Stop Zeke and win the game!

It won't matter. As long as the players on offense stay healthy we'll counteract anything they try. Their only hope is going to be to out score us.
