I posted this question in another thread and i decided i wanted the whole forums thoughts on it...

How do you think flow would feel about an incentive based contract, such as say around 7 mil the next 2 years, and the next 3 or 4 yrs after the first 2yrs be based on playing time; where if he still playing at a top level then he gets the same amount, however if someone comes on strong to outseat him he could still stay with the team, but his salary would drop to 2-5 million as a backup? with flow having the option to cancel the contract in 4 yrs if he is no longer a starter...

so depending on play he could have a contract of 6 yrs worth about 42mil as a starter or 6 yrs 20-34 mil, or 4 yrs 18-to 24mil as a backup.

He would feel like going to another team. He doesn't need or want an incentive based contract and won't fall for it.

Whats his reason to play for incentives? He has already proven to be a very good LT.

At this point in his career I doubt he would be inclined to take an incentive laden contract. He will seek as much guarenteed money as possible.

To be honest, and I know I am in the minority here, I think that JJ has other plans with that money. I also think he may have the idea that Houck can get one of the three young tackles - Free, Martin, McQ - to step in and take over for Flo.

I think managment has the idea that either Flo's play would deteriorate or he would leave in FA - which is the reason for the investment in young OT talent on the team.

BTW - No way Bigg should be moved to tackle. He is a beast inside and I think he would be a liability at the LT position.

well i guess this contract would be a little of both with the first 2 or 3 yrs guaranteed and the last 3 or 4 years incentive based. and he has the option to become a free agent in the incentive years. So if he is still capable of starting he can move to a new team, or if he feels like playing less and then retiring he could retire as a cowboy.
