I havent been hearing much about him in training camp. With Newman out this is his time to shine. For those of you who have been to camp, how does he look? Do you think he sticks around?

I got to meet him and his agent yesterday.

They both are very nice.

Hope he makes some plays today.

He is very confident young player.

I was wondering the same thing about McCann.

I haven't heard his name mentioned much... Don't know if that's good or bad.

As a DB, probably a good thing for him.

I'm hoping he can produce because he's electric in the return game, I think he's the leading candidate.

For some reason I though I heard he was one of those who couldn't practice until the CBA had been ratified. Maybe he was RFA? Do those still exist?

In any case I don't think he's been practicing til recently.

Whatever day they started the league year was his first day of practice. I think he only had a one year contract last year. So that would have made him a free agent.

With all of the injuries at CB, McCann was actually starting yesterday. It wouldn't surprise me if he's the 4th CB once everyone returns.

I'll buy that. Because of his value in the return game, I think that's what will separate him from Alan Ball.

Horrible , will be among first cuts.

Any link to that? Or just guessing?

I have read every practice recap, each night and have not seen a single bad thing about him.

The kid was a huge spark for our team last year, and you could argue we owe 2 wins almost solely on him last year (NYG,DET)

There is almost NO chance he is cut this year. In my opinion.

Josh Thomas has been abused in almost every practice. You constantly see him missing tackles or letting Radway/Ogletree run right by him.

If anyone is cut, it'll be him.

I thought Thomas would have shown better by this point.

It could be that he's more cut out for a cover-2 scheme where he doesn't have the man-to-man responsibilities that he'll have in this defense.

McCann is not a great returner by any stretch of the imagination. He made two great plays on consecutive weeks to spark us, though. The return in Detroit was just a heads up play. However, on regular punt and kickoff returns he didn't show much and had a tendency to fumble.

As a CB he looks kind of stiff and doesn't play the ball well.

He is basically a JAG. He should compete with Ball and Thomas for the 4th CB.
