How Does Cap Money Impact on the Cowboys?

Speaking about how Cap money recently impacted on the Jets ...how will it impact on the Cowboys?

While I'm not certain what the Eagles are going to do (we're always so "hush-hush" about these things --never liked that), I do know that whenever a team is squeezed by the Cap, it does impact on all other teams in the NFL.

For example ...take the Jets team, and their recent player cuts -- it's going to make a ripple effect that will shake free some other players.

I'm sure Dallas is not looking for another QB (or are you?), But if you are ...

Fielder is a gutsy, intelligent and skilled quarterback. He did a lot of good things in Miami.

Drew Brees is apparently going to hit the market ...

Possible movement as players like Aaron Brooks and Kerry Collins could come free.

The reality of the salary cap came crashing down on the Jets on Wednesday as Fiedler and offensive tackle Jason Fabini (I think there may be some Cowboy interest here), cornerback Ty Law (Perhaps Eagle interest here) and fullback Jerald Sowell were released. There will be more names on the streets in the days to come, as both Washington and Kansas City are $20 million-plus over the cap.

Others mentioned on various websites Include ...

Junior Seau in Miami
LaVar Arrington in Washington

What's in your wallet (cap)?

I like the "what's in your wallet?" tie-in, very nice.

I read a post yesterday that reference some information from resident cap guru Adam that stated after the LTBE turned into NLTBE and that $$ goes back into the coffers we will have around $15-16 million. I will go back and check to make I read it correctly.

That said, sounds like you guys are in good shape and ready for the easy pickings! Apparently, there are quite a few teams that experiencing some cap problems. I'd imagine that some good players are going to shake loose from that fruit tree ...and real soon! Should be an interesting year in FA.

Ok, Adam said that we would have more than $16 million open before signing our RFA or EFA AND before doing anything the contracts for Allen, Adams, Ellis, Glover, Nguyen or Singleton.

My guess is that we don't touch Adams' or Ellis' contracts. Nguyne is said to be returing so that should free up some space. I would be surprised if Allen came back with his current contract amount. Singleton will probably be asked to take a pay cut or be released. Not sure about Glover, my guess is he is gone because he is due a roster bonus.

So, yes, we should have plenty of room when it is all said and done. That doesn't mean, though that we need to go after ever bgi name free agent out there. We will leave that to Snyder.

I would be interested in Arrington for sure if he became available.
