Isn't this the very definition of how you make/manage your money by creating a budget and following it? ie..what we don't do in FA

YES by acquiring cheap bottom of the barrel guys, you remember that right? Oh and keeping some of our own guy, can't forget that
Well I don't like how they allocate cap dollars either but it's got nothing to do with being cheap

Cheap is being scared to make a splash in free agency one of these years since Brandon Carr
and Carr was not a bust either. Not worth the money but we have done a lot worse.

The big problem is that the we like our guys thing is taken to extremes and uses up CAP space that would be better spent on other FA's

we overpaid Dak because Jerry and company screwed around and waited. There was probably at least $10 million a year over the contract that was badly spent
But again and again we spend more than market value on our guys yet refuse to pay market value on others

Which you would call being CHEAP

Salary cap.....all teams have it, but it is how you use it. Putting Stephen as your salary cap specialist is like putting me in charge of the US Defense budget. He knows enough to make stupid decisions and think he can handle it rather than getting experts involved... said before, great FO are playing 3D chess while SJ is playing checkers. That is why they are currently way over the cap and why every year they are dumpster diving and bargain bin shopping for garbage players.

No matter how much money the Jones' have, you can't buy class, grace and intelligence. Intelligence in football operations.

They're not. They spe3nd pretty close to the cap every year
Right. They’re not tight with money…it’s where and how they spend it player-wise. They are simply not going to pay someone else’s player what they will pay their own. The Brandon Carr experiment ruined them.
