How good are the Cowboys, if they don't have a top tier QB?

It doesn't really hurt all that bad, since we have a great QB. It's not news to anybody that removing an elite passer cripples a team. But it wasn't just the missing QB last year that was the problem. It was a string of injuries, and a defense that forgot how to take the ball away from anybody--something we'd done really well previously.

We do need to draft a QB at 4, though.

I think part of the reason for lack of turnovers was other teams playing conservative offense against us.

Because the Cowboys offense was scoring so little the smart game plan is just play conservative to keep it close and outlast them in the 4th quarter when defense wears down.

It definitely was. We also played a group of teams who turnover the ball less often than the group we played in 2014. Scandrick being out probably didn't help.

That said, we'd also done a lot to improve the pass rush, adding Hardy, Gregory, and with getting Sean Lee back. Overall, the drop off still confuses me. I'd feel a lot better about next season if I could see us getting things back where they had been the two seasons prior, and then some.

But last year only proves Dallas missed Romo (upper to top tier), Dez (top tier) , and Scandrick...a lot.
But if Dez and Scandrick were there, and we had a little better running back, could the team have been at least decent with a mid tier starting QB?

Instead, all they had was mid tier (or lower in some cases) backups. So that only told us we can't win with that.

But yes, the goal should be to always have a great QB

I like Watson but way too early to predict he will continue to improve. There was a time havkenberg was considered a can't miss star. For Watson it's all about taking the next step this year. We shall see

There is a Watson-type every year and they are bust every year. He will be a wasted pick. His accuracy is a hit and miss situation according to all the scouting reports I have read snd games I watched. Good college player, no pro potential .

I usually ignore responses like this about his accuracy when he showed just how good his accuracy is against Alabama which is what is different about him is he can accurately throw the football

Go back and watch the games ill be here waiting and we can compare him to Cam for example as a runner/thrower to me Watson is already a better more accurate passer then Cam Newton in my opinion right now ,cause what my eyes see def doesnt say an inaccurate QB and he's really good in situational football...

Alabama is the closest team to an NFL caliber defense that you're going to get in college football and you saw what Watson did to them broke records without his top WR who was hurt for the year annnnnndddd a top wr or top contributors on offense at WR sent home before the bowl games so he's short handed and still almost won if it wasn't for that on sidekick clams it would be the national champion and Watson will be the reason why...

You think Wentz or Goff would do better than Watson against Alabama in that situation? They had no Answer for him annnnnnnnd he's ready to play Now imo Wentz and Goff reportedly got to develop cmon! The tape is still out there

And NO there is no Watson player out there just because they can run don't mean they can throw Watson Can throw every pass Wetz Goff throws go back and watch his freshman year too and just as accurate maybe better imo
