Guys, how good is Alabama? I think they are a good football team but I do not believe they are the best team in the Nation.

If you look at their schedule, I am not sure they are as good as advertised.

They beat Michigan when Michigan was #8 but come to find out, Michigan pretty much sucks this year.

They beat Western Kentucky convincingly but Western Kentucky is from the Sun Belt.

They beat Arkansas convincingly but the Razerbacks, like Michigan, suck. Arkansas has lost to Louisiana-Monroe. They have one win against Jacksonville State who plays in the DII Ohio Valley Conference.

They beat Florida Atlantic convincingly, also from the Sun Belt but Florida Atlantic is 1-4, there only win coming against Wagner of the NEC.

They beat Ole Miss this weekend, who many claimed were the weakest SEC team in the League. I don't believe that but that was said. Ole Miss scored 14 against this Bama Defense and held the Tide to 33. Same team that Texas put up 66 on.

Bama also lost DeAndrew White, starting WR, against Ole Miss. this past weekend. How good do you think Bama is this season? I, for one, would love to get the chance to see.

As long as Notre Dame doesn't win the NC, I don't care that much who does.

That being said, Alabama is very good and the champ until dethroned.

LSU has disappointed the last two weeks by playing down to crappy opposition.

Oregon is looking good but it is still a Pac 12 team.

I don't think Alabama has shown much of anything. They have played nobody and they didn't look good in the one half decent team they played in Ole Miss.

Heck, I don't really think anybody in the SEC is looking all that great.

I picked the phone up and called someone who is more of an Eastern Conference guy. He said he didn't know a lot but his biggest praise was for their OL. He's big on OL but said Alabama returned their entire starting OL and he named a couple of All-Americans. I've had a couple of people tell me they consider them the best coached team in college ball for whatever that's worth. He also said they probably have the greatest depth of talent by far on any team in the East. He said a couple of things I'm not going to repeat as well. He said Alabama had the best talent and Georgia wasn't too far behind then LSU.

He thinks the GA v SC game will be a good one and predicted a GA win.

Take that FWIW.

I think Bama is still very good and expect they will be make a big run at the NC. Not claiming they can't get beat but anyone who does better bring their A game and get ready for a down to the wire game.

Gotta say, I don't really agree with any of that Jobs. I think Bama's running game is weak and that's pretty much how they win games. They run you do death and take deep shots at you. If they can't run, then they are not a great passing team.

Heck, I'm not all that impressed with Georgia, South Carolina, LSU or Bama at this point in the season. Georgia is 5-0 but they have beaten the following:

Buffalo 45-23 from the MAC who has 1 win over Morgan St., has lost to Kent St. 23-7 and UCon 24-17. Not very impressive yet they put up 23 points on Georgia.

They beat Missu 41-20, who is nothing special.

They beat Florida Atlantic 56-20(Sun Belt) , a 1-4 school who is apparently getting the snot beat out of them by everybody except Wagner.

They Beat Vandy 48-3 but Vandy is terrible. There only win of the season was against Presbyterian. Really? Presbytarian? Really?

They beat the Vols this weekend 51-44. Now, this is one makes you go, hummm. Tennessee is 3 and 2 with wins over NCSt 35-21, GaSt. 51-13 and Akron 47-26. Tennessee is not a powerhouse but they put up 44 against Georgia and almost beat them in Athens. Everybody has run and passed on Georgia. For a team that is supposed to be top 5 and maybe the best team in the SEC? Heck, even Vandy ran for over a hundered and threw for over 200 and they are terrible.

South Carolina is the same way. They have beaten Vandy, East Carolina, UAB, Missou and Kentucky. They almost lost to Vandy 17-13. None of these teams are very good at all. I don't know if South Carolina is any good or not.

Same with LSU. They have beaten North Texas, Washington, Idaho, Auburn and Towson State. They gave up 23 points to Towson St. They almost lost to Auburn who has only beaten La-Monroe.

I don't see the great teams everybody else does thus far.

I only relaying what was told to me as I don't know squat about Bama. I do know SC and if Connor Shaw is healthy as well as Lattimore they will be tough for anyone. Their defense is pretty good esp up front. Not as high on the secondary. When they played Vandy they were playing their heart out and there is some team speed on Vandy. Don't think Shaw played much at Vandy but not sure. Kentucky was really up for SC and they found something up front in the first half and ran the ball pretty well early up the middle. They were shut down in the second half and SC scored 31 unanswered points.

I've only watched a little of Georgia. I had told someone TN may create some problems because they were the #2 offense in the SEC. I think GA will be pretty good this year but its still early so who knows.

I'm not much into comparing games. Too many variables.

It's going to be interesting. I am watching all of these SEC teams and I am not all that impressed with what I am seeing. They are playing many of the same D2 type schools and then each other. I am not sure what we will know about the SEC by the time this is all done.

Football is football. Teams that make plays and have playmakers, get field position, avoid critical injuries, and don't turn the ball over or make too many other mistakes generally win.

It's Bama, LSU, SC and GA with a few others trying to make their mark. I'm not the college guy you are so I defer to you.

Just my 2 cents Bama never looks flashy but they go out and play hard hitting defense and manage to put up enough points to win the games.

Bama is good but they aren't the best team in the nation.

They aren't nearly as good as they were last year. You don't lose as much NFL talent as they did and not feel it. They have a good OL but they don't have Trent Richardson. Until they find the right 5 star recruit they'll miss Trent. The defense is still very good but no where near as explosive.

The SEC overall is much softer than last year. They have loads of top talent but it is generally very young.

This is the first time in a while the SEC isnt the top conference and "might" not be top 3. We'll have to see how they fare in bowl games. Last year people ignored that they underwhelmed in bowls because they sent two to the NC.

Georgia probably has the best talent this year but has the most questionable coaching staff of the top teams.

It would not shock me for TAMU to beat Bama or LSU.

I agree Dooms. Bama plays strong D up front, creates TOs and runs the ball effectively. They pick their shots and go for the long ball downfield off play action. Guys, I know you all probably think I'm crazy but I'm telling you, Bama does not look like the unbeatable team we've seen these past few seasons. In fact, the entire SEC does not look that way to me.

I guess we'll see what the season holds but I am thinking that early, this might be the year to beat the SEC.

I am seeing the same thing JT. All of these teams look beatable to me. I guess we'll see what happens.

I think they are beatable I just think anyone who does is really going to have to be on their game. I think Bama is a fundamentally sound team and while this version may not be as good as the last they are still capable of winning the NC. This week’s game VS LSU will be big for both team.

Did you know that the top Offense in the NCAA and the Top Defense in the NCAA are both in the Big 12? I did not know that until just a few minutes ago. Tech is the top Defense in the Nation and OKSt. is the top Offense. Had no idea.

In fact, 4 of the top 10 Offenses are in the Big 12.

1. OKSt.
2. WV
3. Baylor
8. Tech

and 2 of the top 10 Defenses are also in the Big 12.

1. Texas Tech
7. TCU

Everybodies talking about WV, OU and Texas, maybe we all better start worrying about Tech. On the other hand, they haven't really played anybody so there is that.

They're the best team in college football by a decent margin. The best O-line combined with the best defense makes the nearly unstoppable. No reason to think they won't make it three out of four this season.

They're scary...very scary. So much talent, so much speed. And then they have the best coach in college and probably a Top-5 defensive coordinator.
