Pretty good article...SHOCKING...Spagnola has the least expectations out of any of the writers. He acts like Dallas won three Super Bowls between 2003-2009. He is terrible. What are your thoughts? Why did Jerry not extend him after last year. Won 7/8 after a 3-5 start, the NFC East, and won a playoff game. I feel that Dallas really does need to take the "next step". NFC Championship at least. If not bye Garrett. But truly who knows. To me, this is the number 1 story line. I have faith in Dallas resigning our guys.

Mickey is Jerry’s hired help. He’s the biggest Cowboy Homer sports writer.

Jerry traditionally doesn’t resign his HC until their contract is up. Fans and media just spinning to shape their narrative.

What's funny is the other writers aren't afraid to not be homers. What upsets me is Mickey acts like Dallas won three Super Bowls between 2003-2009. Hey Mickey, that was 1992-1995!! Jerry traditionally doesn't fire his coach midseason but he did with Wade. Anything can happen. All I know is Dallas Cowboy fans will riot if this team goes 9-7, misses the playoffs, and extends Garrett. They have all this money and talent invested the next five years. They need a coach who is capable of getting to the freaking Super Bowl..not one who gets out coached when the lights come on.

garrett is fired w anything less than one playoff win

beyond that depends on performance & circumstances

if they win then get dismantled fired, win into a tough loss where the team fought hard & competed then he probably stays

I’m not sure why we’d expect a championship appearance. We were headed to another non playoff season last year. Basically one elite receiver away from finishing at .500 or worse.

We finished strong which provides momentum and confidence moving forward. But the fact we felt needed a big change at OC with a 22nd ranked offense signals we probably aren’t at the next level yet.

When I look around the top teams like LA, NO, NE and KC I see a wider gap offensively , especially at QB. Can we make that up defensively. Perhaps..

And the bigger question is whether it’s more about our QB’s inconsistency and weaknesses in passing ability or play calling and schemes.

I’m leaning it’s more about talent than coaching since one player instantly uplifted the offense. I can’t help but wonder how it would be elevated if we inserted that level of talent at QB?

No...our WRs were garbage. Terrence Williams, Allen Hurns, Beasley, a third round rookie, Geoff Swaim. Brady probably struggles with those guys!! Amari was like trading for an ace. He becomes the 1, Gallup becomes the 2 (much better role for him) and so on. I agree with you that he saved our season but it was the front office's fault they didn't do something earlier.

There also had to be a change with the play calling. Look at all the talent on this team. Dak, Zeke, Amari, Tyron, Travis, Zack, Tank, Jaylon, LVE, Byron. Decent depth. Yet you say it's more the talent than coaching? This is a massive year for Dak. He has to take the step in becoming a top ten QB.

Also, isn't Garrett the ONLY coach Jerry has ever resigned? Jimmy was here 89-93, Barry 94-97, Gailey 98-99, Campo 00-02, Parcells 03-06, and Wade 07-10. Can't base that logic off one time.

It would take a total collapse like with Wade or a some 5-11 seasons like Campo to fire Garrett.

No one can take on the Lynch Mob like Jerry. Plus he doesn’t really have to be accountable to anyone as long as there are butts in the seats. He handles Damage Control like no others. There is always a scapegoat if needed.

No, Jerry resigned Garrett in 2014. He waited until his contract was up.

How long are we going to do this song and dance? Garrett has already had seasons of winning one playoff game. We need more than that.We need NFC championship or Super Bowl appearance or he's gone. No more of this win the division, a wild card game and preach progress. It is no longer progress. He should have been gone after the third straight NFC East loss to end the year but it's water under the bridge now. 2015 and 2017 were also huge indictments against him and this staff. The Falcons game in 2017 proved this staff does not know how to make adjustments and they kind of admitted it over time after that game. The excuses need to be done with Garrett.

Thank you. Sick of Cowboys fans defending Garrett and giving excuses. I don't care if the bar is too high. There is talent and they need to win now. No more waiting.

That's the truth. Now is the time!! He has to prove he can win a divisional round playoff game or it's time to go. The team is certainly good enough.
That’s arguable. I certainly don’t see us as better than any of the Final 4 teams last year.

We were 1 player away from being a .500 team or worse. Yes, we have some talent but not as talented overall as some are projecting especially at QB compared to the more Elite teams.

Not sure why reaching championship game is an ultimatum this year. Most experts aren’t even picking us to win the division.

If you want to fire Garrett. Go right ahead. This season shouldn’t determine that.

Prescott is the QB. That's what Garrett has to work with. Not like there's a saviour in the backup situation. If he can't win with Prescott he isn't winning. But maybe we should wait another 20 years for him to find a hall of fame QB? Your defense of Garrett is ridiculous at this point. There is no NFL coach with this kind of lack of success that gets this much time.

There’s ample cause to fire Garrett without this season. Placing an ultimatum on this season is silly.

Most Cowboy fans want a more proven or up and coming HC. Not sure that’s what Jerry wants but that’s another argument. Garrett has been a formidable puppet but I suppose others could have produced similar results . We can certainly begin the revolving door again. Maybe the next puppet will surprise us.

Not sure it’d take 20 years to find a QB closer to HOF caliber . There’s usually one in almost every draft. I’m not saying we can’t win with Dak. It’s just going to take more support.

We have a unique situation here with Jerry. I’m not sure we can compare to other franchises. What GM gets this much time?
