How Hall of Fame voting should be done.

I dunno about the rest of you but I do not think sports writers have any right to vote for who should or should not get in the Hall of Fame. And yeah there is a much better way.

But sports writers should not be allowed to vote on who gets in the HOF. How many of these writers have made it to the NFL HOF. How many have even played in the NFL. If ANY of these writers have played in the NFL I would surprised.

I bet at least 90% of the sports writers have never even played a down of tackle football. So really who are they to decide who is a HOF player or not.

Most of the these writers do not even know as much about football as most the people who post in forums like this. Letting sports writers vote on who gets in the Hall of Fame is almost as dumb as letting a blind man drive in NASCAR events.

The way it should be done is real easy. The people who are in the HOF vote on a group of players and coaches who have at least played in the NFL or coached in the NFL. These are the ones who would decide who gets in the HOF.

It would make alot more sense for people who have ACTUALLY played in the NFL or coached in the NFL to decide who gets in or not.

I think they should split the weight of their vote. 1/2 go to the media, and the other half goes to NFL players past and present.

How many former USC Heisman winners do you think voted for Reggie Bush? Not that that is a bad thing, but I doubt anybody but Matt and Reggie would get heavy consideration.

I think the fix is to Cast public light upon that which was Dark.

I agree to a point,

As long as humans involved there will always be agenda's.

I would think that the guys that are in take great pride in that and that would make them want the right guys in there with them....

Plus who knows who really are the best players , but the players themselves...


Aikman and Farve prime example....
Farve much better stats ,but when they were both in there primes , who would you want in that big game... the guy that gave the Cowboys many a victory in the playoffs by throwing the ball to our corners or the guy without the stats ,but thrives under pressure...

Like I said. These idiots who are sports writers know less then most people that go to these forums.

They have no idea what it is like to play the game and cuz of that they can never learn the respect that the players do have for each other.


When you have morons like Rick Riley who say Aikman is not a HOF QB then that just backs my point even more. Sports writers should never be allowed to vote.

I don't know about the public voting. Honestly, there are so many Cowboys fans guys like Gary Hogeboom would be a finalist.

Fans or sportwriters should never vote for who gets in the HOF. I say leave it to anyone who has coached or played in the NFL. They know more about those players up for the HOF then any fan or dork sportswriter could ever dream of knowing.

If you talk to players and some coaches, you would be surprised at how misinformed they are about some things and about how strong their personal agendas are.

"That guy retired four years ago? .... I thought he was still playing ..." etc.

They are way more biased than any sportswriter.

My vote would be to turn the Hall of Fame building into a homeless shelter. The whole thing is a farce anyway.
