How hard will the Cowboys try to sell us on guys like Mingo and Tolbert?

For the most part, I agree with this. I was one of the idiots now sportin’ a little egg on my face by slating pre-draft, “Mingo could be a stud.” Sometimes you just miss.

I wouldn’t toss the guy in the scrap heap yet, but based on body of work and PFF numbers regarding separation & other key factors,I wouldn’t set the bar too high.

I think the Cowboys go WR @ 12 in part due to the BPA just may be a receiver at that pick. But boy, if they don’t get a WR early, Jerry & Jr. are gonna try to convince you this WR room is on par with Viks when they had Randy Moss, Chris Cater, and Jake Reed.
my point was cowboys screwed up. once they have a couple of years in the NFL, then you have to regrade....based on his NFL performance he was a 7th rounder at best, we paid a 4th.

Jerry will always be Jerry. that wasn't a football move. that was a marketing move. to show fans we are doing something and bring them back to the stadium.

I do agree, if TMac is there, you take him and don't look back. he is not a deep threat, but can run all the routes, is physical, great hands and knows how to get open. that's all that matters.

Mingo and Tolbert are 3rd, 4th or 5th receivers. The problem with the Cowboys receivers last season was they had no number 2. Cooks was getting paid big bucks for two seasons and was disappointing. Give the Cowboys a good 2nd receiver it opens up the offense.
This is Tolbert's year to step up. He was improving last year. Not saying he ca or will be a #2, not the way we want him to be.
However, I hope they are not relying on that, and take a WR if one is there at the right time.

Remember, Stephen recently said we needed an "explosive" #2 WR. To say that with Tolbert and Mingo on the team speaks for itself.
Hint: he ain't on the team (lol)
He didn’t say need!
He said could take (if value was there)!
In short it’s people hearing what they want to hear when in actuality WR isn’t as nearly a big a need as they perceive!

draft grades are not exact science. but the mistake cowboys made, is that mingo was in the league for 2 years. how you graded him back when is totally irrelevant. you have NFL tape. you have coaches who know him and it showed he is not NFL Calibur player. so his grade should have been an 8th round grade!!! we paid too much for a player that is obviously not worth it. mistake. stupid stupid stupid.

tolbert is a good WR4, and decent WR3...he is not WR2....so he is here another year. they let him walk and in comes the next guy.
8th round looooooooooooooooooooooooool, very very true, leave it to the Cowboys to over evaluate players! They love to throw out the grades they had on players lol

We used a 4th round pick on Mingo last season, they had a 2nd round grade on him during the draft years ago. We didn't see him get a lot of targets, but it still remains that they had a high grade, and spent a 4th round pick on him.

As for Tolbert, they're selling us that he had the most touchdowns for a WR on this team with 7 I believe it was. If he did 7 last season, just imagine (in their minds) how much he could improve, maybe it'll be 17!!

With that said, we obviously have a need for a WR #2 who can offset some of the attention placed on Lamb. Do you believe they'll try to sell us that we don't need a WR early in the draft because of these two players???? Please give your thoughts..

Remember to think like the Jonses!!
I’m really confident that there will be a short video of them working out and a proclamation of them being in the best shape of their lives.

If you think about it, his lack of targets has at least a little to do with playing opposite of Lamb, not to mention Rush's arm isn't suited for Tolbert's strengths. That's one reason why I think Warren would be a sneaky smart pick.

They didn't have a qb. Give Mingo a chance.

Oh please.......Stephen made it clear that an explosive #2 WR is a priority. Playing word games won't change that.....

Jones went as far as to say the team is "open to looking at a really explosive No. 2 that could upgrade us."

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on the team's wide receivers: "I really like our room. At the same time, obviously losing Brandin Cooks in free agency, we're still open to looking at a really explosive No. 2 that could upgrade us."

WR is not an easy position to transfer in NFL also not easy to judge and draft, it has a little bit longer time to mature also. IMO pos 12 is too rich to hit and miss. Chase / Jefferson are the only studs who were drafted and immediately became stars, since Ceedee is already a 1st round pick , this year 12 should be used for sure shot DL/ Edge or CB, we have too many holes

I haven’t seen anything from these guys yet.

Fix the OL first. What Dak needs more than yet another receiver is TIME and a clean pocket... And a running game. Then maybe the receivers will have time to get open and Dak won't be flustered into a crap throw. Maybe then play action pass will actually affect the defense. Fix the OL!!

The OL thing is overrated, it's not like Dak is under pressure every second of his life, there's times where he has a few seconds to read the defense, and NOBODY is open!
