How hard will the Cowboys try to sell us on guys like Mingo and Tolbert?

Sell us? wth does that mean? Does Jerry come out with Mingo posters on the 1st day of training camp? Do they have Minog bobblehead day at the home opener?

Why do any of you get worked up about what is released in PUBLIC. If you run a team, what are you supposed to say about a player PUBLICLY that you hope to step up.

Well boy, that young guy Wingo, i think we really *** up giving a 4th for him. Ive been watching him this past year, and he really sucks. Id be really surprised if he did anything this year.

Cmon... know how the game is played.
Ha funny. True though. Most get around that by simply not saying anything, but we know that ain’t happening in Dallas.

I don’t think Jerry “sells” as much as people want to believe. I think he truly believes at least most of what he says. Unfortunately he isn’t right often enough on player evaluation, or the overall shape of the roster.

I’m sure he gets plenty of what he says publicly about players from the coaching staff, and those folks are of course going to pump sunshine to the boss. They aren’t going to be critical of the selection of a player, nor admit that they themselves aren’t doing well with a pet project, or any player for that matter.

Not having a GM as a buffer/middle man/bad guy-type is a huge conflict of interest but Jerry doesn’t see it that way, and no one is better than him…as he pushes 83.

Bottom line lack of production, the loss of Brooks and Lambs contract all contribute to the marketing need for pumping up the existing resources at the position.

Neither one is a 2 and hardly even a decent 3 so this kind of points to desperation at drafting a credible 2 early.

I just think the team bulding emphasis should be on stopping the run and running the ball to enable more team success.

I'd like a trade down and DT at the first pick.
The second pick I give a nod of RB over WR then maybe a WR.

Draft pick, Tolbert and the rest of the jag WR room to include Mingo can all compete for #2 and #3 WR.
Open competition.

but he's so great, he was available to be traded

Jerry isnt doing player evaluations. You think it was Jerry that initiated talks to make the deal to get Mingo? cmon... get real. Everybody talks to highly of our unofficial GM.... Will McClay.... HE is the guy behind these deals. It is Jerry that has final say, but lets be real about what Jerry is or isnt doing.

Neither one of us knows exactly what goes on, but Jerry couldn’t wait to get in front of the camera and claim he did the Lance deal all by his grown up self. Didn’t tell anyone.

If he is gonna do that, he needs to take the heat when it doesn’t work, not McClay.

As I’ve often said, the GM by committee thing is part of the problem. Instead of one vision that either works or doesn’t….it’s ‘you get your way this time, I get my way next time,’ and very likely why their overall plan appears to be all over the place.

Looking at it strictly from a ‘impact the offense immediately’ perspective, I think Warren would be able to do that more so than any WR they could get their hands on in this draft.

Nothing against Ferguson, he is solid, but Warren is projected as an elite TE, which I’d rather have than a WR2.

I’m not fully convinced that WR is such a “need,” but I’m about 90% sure that’ll be the first pick. They’ve pretty much said it. Not all that tragic if you consider Tolbert situation. If he plays well in his walk year, he probably won’t be affordable. If not, time to move on. Don’t want to be in a spot to MUST take a WR next year. They do that way too often.
I hear you. They could still find a WR later in this draft. After McMillan is gone, I see about 12 guys who'd be 2nd-3rd round guys. I only see one WR that I'd take at 12.

A guy who I think fits the offense is Jack Bech. I like him more than most. Even more than the Golden, Burden, EE. I think he'll get even better in time.

But I'm with you. An elite TE would help more than a #2 WR. There may be a couple in this draft.

If we want to run the ball, think 12, 13 formations. A TE helps you with that, too.

Well said. I actually like Jerry and McClay. But these decisions should be all McClay even if he's not perfect.

does it really? 2 years ago our offense led the nfl in points. Our defense had been top 6 for 2 years in a row. seems to be working to me.

I’m not about to tell you how to feel, and that you’re wrong for feeling that way, but there’s no parade for that, and no one cares that they ran up the score on the weak division here and there years ago.

The complaint list about Jerry’s organization/act is a mile long. I’m not even talking about championships, which are difficult to come by, but they haven’t even come close. Not close. 30 years.

It’s not working for ME, but we can agree to disagree. Take the final word. I’m not trying to change your mind.
