How has Lawrence been the last 3-4 games?

He's had one sack in 4 games. I am not sure what his "pressure" numbers are. He seems to be playing well over this last stretch but he certainly seemed more active at getting after the QB earlier in the year.

The only reason I bring this up is because the Cowboys have a very difficult decision coming up this offseason in terms of what to do with him. Sign him long term, franchise him or let him walk?

Weeks ago, the notion of walking away from him seemed silly but honestly, if his production tails off here down the stretch, it makes the decision a bit trickier IMO.

I think its the lack of production from everyone else on the line that's going to make the decision tricky. Crawford and Mayowa are jags, Irving is out of position, Taco hasn't flashed, and you can't really depend on Gregory or Tapper moving forward..can we even afford to entertain the idea of letting Lawrence walk?

In that sense, no, you can't let him walk.

But then again, if you sign him long term and he turns back into a 5-7 sack guy making elite money, that's far more damaging long term.

I think the smartest move is franchise him.

yes we can, fans have got to stop hugging players like their lives depended on it. What happened after we lost ware? nothing, because nothing is going to happen until Dallas makes changes. One player, regardless of what the fans think of him is going to make that much a difference. Look at the fans who wanted Newman gone, and got their wish, newman is still playing even after being drafted at an older age.

We cant draft and we cant hold on to everyone, and some of our players are jags in our system and can go on to do better in other systems.

Dont worry, next year we re going to draft another player, or jag and the fans will fall for him. Think of all the legends that have come through the Dallas Cowboys since 2001. Legends i tell you.

Slap the Franchise tag on him.

There will be no discount deal, tons of desperate teams out there trying to find a pass rusher who may easily come close to Vernon numbers because they have to spend that money.

Too risky due to a possible one year wonder and/or nagging injuries to give him a huge long term deal.

He's been solid. Tough to really tell when he gets held and never gets a call. He's been a little more cognizant of his run defense and that's likely due to Lee being out. I haven't watched the last game on All-22 since they haven't published it, yet.

I think that's undeniably the smartest play.

Now watch the Jones boys sign him to a long term deal immediately.

He's been held. Marcus Mosher on twitter with the All 22. No other question.

He has to be franchise tagged this off-season.

Either way, with his injury history, the cowboys NEED another season to evaluate him and make sure his level of play is sustainable, as well as, his health.

Yea I'm not getting into that nonsense about all those other guys, I'm just talking about Lawrence. We should invest in some dogs to play with him on the line not let him walk.

He is getting pressure and held a ton (which go uncalled). What more do you want? He can't beat double teams and the refs. It is what it is, because Jerry has allowed the NFL to stick it to him

Simple. I want to make sure if we invest in this guy long term with a very lucrative contract, he's going to live up to that contract. I don't want the Cowboys to be in a position where they overpay a guy for 8 games of studliness and he never matches that again.

Note, I am not saying he's that guy. I am just curious as to how he's playing lately in light of the fact there is a major financial decision looming on the horizon.

He's been good from what I've seen and he gets pressure constantly.
He also finishes the play and hustles a lot, so when the play goes past him he'll still run up field and try to tackle a ball carrier.

Team's started gameplanning for him and opponents have figured out that they won't get called for holding.

Lack of producing will bring his price down if they want to re-sign him but I still prefer the Franchise Tag unless they can re-sign him for an average that is far below the Tag amount.

His early season success was surprising considering the RDEs have been Crawford/Mayowa/Taco.

Tag is the only way to go with him. You don’t shell out big $ long term to a guy that doesn’t have more than 1 full productive season under his belt...with that said, I fully expect our front office to give him a huge deal.

The lack of holding calls and the lack of sacks over the past four games are directly correlated. I noticed him on several plays last game basically get tackled

D Law is ineffective because of holding, the sun is in Dez's eyes, Dak can't pass because he doesn't have Zeke, and Garrett is blameless because of all of those things and more.

Welcome to Dallas, the land of excuses.

Hard to get to the QB when this kind of crap is happening.

That, to me, is the only move.

With his injury history, as well as suspension history, sinking long term cost into this player is not a smart move. Keep him hungry and honest by having to do it year to year.

He’s been getting held a lot in pass rushing, but I’ve watched him in the run game, and his strength is pretty damn good. He has made some of these OL look silly the way he sheds them and makes the tackle. But again, it’s hard to really judge him for not getting those sacks when he’s been obviously held multiple times and still pressuring the QB.
