How I hope the backfield pans out

FS: Jones
SS: Church / Wilcox (camp battle winner)
DB: Patmon
DB: Carr
DB: Scandrick

I have high hopes for Patmon. I think he really has a good feeling for where the ball is. It drives me crazy that our DBs never seem to turn their head around.

It would be nice if Clay came around, but I just don't see it. I think Carr will stay with us this year, but is likely gone next. We will draft another corner high next year.

I see Church and Wilcox around the same level with a nod to Church, though Wilcox is younger.

If it pans out like this will have some good depth and perhaps some trade bait.

What I don't understand is why do we want to move our number 1 CB pick to FS when we have Corey White who has played safety in the NFL, is still very young, is very athletic and is bigger than Jones.

Keep Jones at CB. Carr will for sure be gone next year if not this year. Claiborne will not be hear next year. If we put Jones at Safety, then we'll be looking for two more CB next year.

If guys like Lawrence, Gregory, Mincey and Hardy can bring pressure the secondary I think will hold up just fine.

regardless what the dline does, the secondary needs to step it up. they are the weak link right now on this team and after 3 years of playing together, it will be unacceptable to see the same mistakes from them this year.

Well cousin, I think that's probably the best scenario. I hope Wilcox can beat out Church for SS just to have someone more athletic and a bigger hitter at the position.

Where do you have Corey White playing?

I agree they need to step up all I am saying the job becomes much easier when the QB does not have the time. If you are forcing the QB to release the ball before he wants or not allowing him the ability to step up in the pocket it plays in the favor of the secondary.

no doubt about it. but these guys have made egregious errors on their own, regardless of the pass rush. their tackling has been below average as a group, with claiborne it has to do with effort. there have been poor angles, miscommunication btw the safeties, and inexplicable soft coverage on short yardage downs. overall they need to just worry about improving their play, we've made too many excuses for them and the secondary coach who I'm not too fond of.

I'm not making any excuses for them at all but when you have 28 sacks on the year that tells me it is not the secondary alone. This unit needs to step up, I am in full agreement but this unit needs help in terms of getting after a QB and not just letting him stand back there. You give an NFL QB time he will pick you apart. I think as a whole the defense was much improved last season but to take the next step up we need better play up front and in the secondary
