Go ahead and steal questions. They do that here. Then they steal credit for the answers. :D

well im pretty sure our 3-4 defense is the weakest 3-4 in the league with our "pass rush" and ridiculous open holes the secondary makes

It doesn't matter what defense we run, its pressure that will beat him. He can't handle it. If he's got all day to sit back and hit guys deep, they will scorch us.

Rex Grossman is, like Ron Rivera said, a mental midget. I wish I could see him play against the steelers. Lebeau would make him look even more ********. However... our 3-4 is not nearly as deceptive as the better 3-4 teams in the league (pitt, pats, chargers) for whatever reason..... I am really hoping Phillips has been getting the guys ready and will unleash some really good disguises this sunday night.... Rex looks like the perfect guy to make look like a fool.

He just played san diego, our defense wont suprise him. Its like gameplanning for the same defense two out of three weeks.

Bears @ Chargers game one. 14-3 Chargers :)

Grossman 12-23 0TDs and 1 INT.

53.7 QB rating.

Though, the Bears only gave up 1 sack.

You realize that the Chargers 3-4 *IS* Wade Phillip's 3-4?

The sky isn't falling. It's only transitioning. The defense will get better by the week.

Yes, but not how we've been playing it the 1st 2 weeks. I just want to see the D give the same look multiple times but switch around between dropping back into coverage or rushing with the linebackers. Blitzes that are timed based on the snap count are a much noticeable improvement though.

I don't agree with your assessment of our defense, by the way, and I'm not sure you have enough data yet to arrive at your conclusion. But, really, I wanted to ask where Rivera said Grossman was a mental midget. I hadn't seen that anywhere.

Depends. Has he played one as passive and qb friendly as ours?

I think it's actually a team's offensive line that determines whether a team is good against the 3-4. You have to have a center who can handle a guy on his nose. Many teams have small athletic centers, some have big strong centers.

Just being a 3-4 doesn't mean the defense will be tough. The Steelers/Pats/Chargers defenses are just good, other 3-4 defenses are just bad.

When it comes to the Cowboys, I think the front seven talentwise is over-rated. You've got alot of young guys who were drafted high, who everyone expected to be really good, but haven't lived up to the hype.

Disagree. We have different personell then the Chargers, and we don't use our personell the way they do (at least not yet).

Considering that the Bears managed only 3 points in that game, i would say that they might be looking at a completely different approach

I don't think SF played a 3-4 fulltime last year. According to some here, they barely ran it at all (last year).

Correct! They ran a hybrid 4-3 to 3-4, but the 3-4 was seldom used.
