How is Roy W (Cincy) doing this year?

We all had to put up with the weekly scheming all of our opponents would do to us every week--simple--design pass plays so Roy would have to get in coverage ...and most times we gave up huge plays and he became such a liability
now that he is playing with Zimmer I cannot believe he has not been torched like he had when he was with us...and forget the first game of the year they lost on the last play where it was tipped and the Bengals lost on that fluke play, I saw Roy on that play and he was really out of position
...anyone have any feedback on how he is really doing in Cincy?

there are lots of schemes where man coverage is minimal and RW31 fits in those.

had we kept RW31 and lost Hamlin I think we'd have been fine... we just couldn't keep them both.

it's pretty much non-existent to have 2 safeties both man covering on the same play.

zimmer isn't a genius but judging by the bengals defensive stats i'd say he has figured out to keep rw31 away from covering anyone who weighs less than 300 pounds.

if the tackle eligible play goes off.. rw can cover that dude... lol.

funny...!....so if a Bigg type gets loose in the endzone Roy has a chance

exactly.

And if you need a run stopper as baltimore pounds off tackle on you, you'd be much better off with rw then ken hamlin....

Living here in Cincy I feel I've got a pretty accurate account on how he's doing.

To be real honest, he's exactly what the Bengals needed: a thumper in their secondary. He and Ray Maleuga (sp) were exactly the types of players the Bengals were missing. Guys that could create big hits and cause turnovers. The past few years I hadn't seen Roy lay anyone out, but this year he seems to have a big hit in every game. Including the freak Denver play in which he WAS NOT out of position. That was a good hit and he would have been credited with a pass break up if the ball wasn't tipped.

I'll also say this. Joseph and Hall are the best set of corners Roy has ever played with. In Dallas, we always had one guy on the corner who could get beat deep. Right now, neither one of those guys are getting beat deep and Joseph is playing like an All Pro.

I'm happy to see the guy doing so well. I just wish he got back to his old self in Dallas the way he has here.

that hit was *****. Marshall has been hit harder in pillow fights than that ***** hit Roy tried to lay on him.

What play? The play against Denver?

Yeah, it can't hurt when you have two corners playing that well in front of you.

I dont know exactly how good He's been but He did lay out a Running Back and have a nasty hit on a pass breakup. Believe he knocked both guys out.

I guess you saw a different hit than I did.

Well now that he is out of Dallas, he doesn't have to worry about the horse collar penalty being called on him. That was strictly a Roy Williams Dallas call.

He only sees thru his Ant-TO & Roy shades with the Romo frames.

If you made a straight swap of "Romo" for "TO" in that sentence, that would be you.

In the game I was watching, the Bengals had Ndukwe and Crocker splitting snaps. They were both playing in the box and Roy was the centerfielder. He was chasing the ball, keeping everything in front of him, and blowing people up. He looked good...

Just another example of how sure fans are that someone is finished when they aren't.

And by the way, where are all of those people who were so certain that Hamlin was a much better player than Roy?

Almost but Roy was my favorite player. I hope he goes to the pro bowl so I can laugh at Jerry and the cowboys fans. Maybe he had a point about the 3-4. And TO was in my top 4. #11 is someone I have hopes for but Romo never looks his way and when he does, leaves him hanging to get DJ williams'd.

Romo IMO is the most overrated player in the game. He is a good QB but hardly a "top 5 franchise QB"....

He is good enough to make the playoffs but the talent around him will get him there. He will find a way to lose it. He was a product of TO. Without him he looks average. My opinion could change a bit with a good offensive mind like Homlgren, Gruden or Shanny.

there are silly posts then there is yours....

Who exactly rates Romo top 5??? How exactly is he overrated and by whom?

Romo was awful in Denver and that showed but RW11 has put up nothing since he has been here while other guys playing with Romo at the same position have done just fine.

Perhaps it is Roy Williams who is the most overrated player in the game.

i've been keeping up with him.. i believe he leads the Bengals in tackles, and he has had quite a few plays where he lit someone up.. he's looked really good for the Bengals this year.. i still love the guy and hope he makes another Pro Bowl..

ps: he was in perfect position on that play against Denver and did whack Brandon Marshall pretty good.. only the biggest anti-Roy guys would say that play was his fault..

The hit is at the 1:22 mark. Good hit IMO.
