When we sign MB3 to a long term contract, how long will it be before the leauge makes the MB3 rule "no hands to the face for a runner"?

I can see it coming

I don't think there is a necessarily a huge rush to sign MBIII in the next month or two - not that we won't.

But if we tender him with a 1st and 3rd, I really doubt anyone goes after him in FA. (Same with Canty)

The priorities are to make a decision, whatever decision that is, on Hamlin and Flo, IMO. And we'll probably find out in the next week or so on both of these players.

I think Hamlin has to be signed. Roy Willy is a lost cause in my book. Hamlin can play both Safety positions as well. Watkins is going to be a nice player for also.

Next the league will attack Witten for taking his helmet off during a play.

Emmitt Smith broke a bone in his hand doing that in 1999. He was having a great game up to that point as well.

I have to admit I love when he does it... especially when his biznitch slaps someone out of the way via that technique..... but it does look wrong when he does it.... how is it that hands to the face is ok for offense against the defense?... seems hypocritical

Can we place the first and third round tenders on both Barber and Canty?

Has anyone seen that piece on NFLN where Shula talks about Csonka being the only RB in history to get an unnecessary roughness penalty for abusing a tackler? He did the same thing Barber does -- just b-slapped the tackler in the face.

So yeah, I could see it being called sometime.

I can see it coming up after a season of him starting. Its either they relax the hands to the face on defense or call it on offense too and seen as the NFL has never relaxed a rule in its life then I can only see it going one way.

You give that GREAT bit of info without a vid link?

Sounds like a must see!

Barber is not the only back to put his hands into the face for stiff arming. LT has been doing it his whole career. If they're not going to put a rule in to prevent him from doing it I doubt that Barber doing it is going to suddenly 'open peoples eyes' to this move and make them put a rule in.

:laugh2: I saw it on TV, on the NFL's Top Ten "Toughest Players" bit.

It looked like Marion -- Csonk was about at the sideline, and just wound up and punched the guy. Said that was some payback from earlier in the game.

Shula talked about how when he saw the call, he asked the official, "You meant that was on the defense, right?" And the ref said, "No, it's on the back. Did you see what he did to that guy?"

New England would surrender a first and third for Barber, I believe. And probably put in a poison pill so Dallas couldn't match. Their first would have to be a 2009 first, which is likely to be a very high draft number, beside being discounted a year in advance.

:)

A team cant do that. You have to have the picks IN THE YEAR OF THE TENDER.

The Pats cant sign Barber and give us a 2009 1st, it would have to be a 2008 first and since they lost theirs, they would have to give us San Fran's pick.

I think that is the #7 overall and noway does hoodie give that up when they already have Marony.

I remember that game, it was in Minnesota, I think on a Monday night. If he didn't get hurt on that TD run I believe that he was on pace to set the single game rushing record at the time.

His incident was different because he grabbed the facemask of the defender...and it probably should have been a penalty.:laugh2:

Does that mean that Cleveland, which doesn't have a first round pick this year, because Dallas traded for it, is prohibited from signing any free agent this off season who has been tagged with a first round pick or more?

That's certainly a disincentive for any team to trade its first rounder away: to be cut out of any chance to bring in a major player tagged the following year.

Are you sure?

:)
