How many draft picks have we given up this season? or swapped or conditional picks?
Most (maybe all) of the trade were pick swaps. They didn't actually lose a complete pick, they just moved down in the draft.
2016 picks, we gave 6th to SF, selecting Swaim in 2015 7th.
2016 conditional 7th to Seattle for Michael. Not sure the terms, seen something about 3 games.
2016 conditional to Raiders for Butler,, if on roster for 6 games. they get our 5th, we get their 6th.
2017 conditional pick to Bills for Cassell, they get our 5th, we get their 7th. not sure what the terms are.
2016 possible comp picks. Get max of 4. Originally we signed 5, and lost 8. As far as i know, none of the players we lost were released by their teams. We released 2 players in Brinkely and Jed Collins. Making it 8 lost to 3 signed. Maybe the compensation is adjust somehow to this as opposed to size of the contracts. I don't know.
From a list I had from mid May.
We could get a 4th and 3 6ths, or 4th , 2 6ths and a 7th round. Maybe somehow they it can be a 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th.
Comp picks. We should be getting at least get those picks back, if not more.
It's not a zero-sum game, and there's nothing magical about 7 picks. If you don't trade picks and get 4 comp picks, you now have 11, which greatly increases your odds of hitting on someone, even in the late rounds.I trust McClay and co have calculated the number of comp picks we should receive next draft, hence the willingness to give for what we need now.

In general, I'm opposed to trading picks away. The fact that these were all low-rounders calms me down a bit, but I'm a big believer that the only proven way to draft well is to draft often.
zero. we used draft picks for player acquisition, none were given up
