LCB - Diggs

Thoughts:

- I really dunno what the future holds for LVE here,.. will the club even choose Not to pick up his option in May ?
- Jaylon back to Middle LB ? I tend to think so... Imo, he's a liability anywhere he lines up, but could be felt less in the middle..

- Quinn's scheme may rely less on a strong backer and more of a nickel 5-2 look anyway vs standard 4-3 scheme.

- Neal to be converted S turn WLB ? i'm already assuming it's a nickel role, as seems too much of a risky-gamble right away for immediate starting status undersized LB.

- Will club ask Lee to return, since Sean apparently hasn’t decided yet to retire ?

- Can’t see team starting Lewis or Brown outside at RCB- they're very average once placed on the outside flanks. I expect a new, high round draftee to start or be 3rd CB briefly until ready.

- Urban follows several journeymen trends to be 1 tech helper. (sigh) i'm questioning if we'll even decide on another 1 tech draftee. Watkins was on a Texans' team that was dead last vs run,
so what to expect him to do here ?

- I'm taking ex-ATL Damontae Kazee with a grain of salt since he's recovering from a tough injury (achilles tendon) It was an interesting signing but a big maybe if he can return to previous form.

- with Gallimore and Hill already on board and invested in, I don't see a regarded 3 tech picked in the early rounds goings- if at all.

For 2021- We need at least 2 who can start right away, 3 -4 who can contribute/ rotate in/ backup
for 2022- We need at least 4 starters from this draft.

We need 4-5 new starters on defense in 2021 regardless of where you get them. (really in today's NFL "starter" isn't as important as high level contributor. so my answer is really contributors.)

Honestly, outside of taking a swing tackle or two, there's no reason we should draft anything but defense this draft. Zero point to drafting a third string RB, another late-round TE or WR, etc.

I would love for Dallas to take a RB in the middle rounds. Zeke insurance. Just in case last year wasn’t a fluke. And to have someone ready if we decide to move on from Zeke next year.

Defense:

Defensive Line:

1 - DT (Draft)

Linebackers:

2 - LB

Secondary:

1 - CB
1- Safety

Offense:

2 - OL
1 - WR
1 - QB

I would make sure 9 out of 10 positions get drafted by the end of the 3rd Day and it leaves 1 for an extra DL or Secondary player

I tend to agree, but how many swing tackles do you need on one team?
Listed tackles:
Isaac Alercon 6'7" 320 22yo
Lael Collins 6'4" 320 27yo
Mitch Hyatt 6'5" 306 24yo
Brandon Knight 6'4" 314 24yo
Ty Nsekhe 6'8" 320 35yo
Tyron Smith 6'5" 30yo
Terrance Steele 6'6" 310 23yo

So 7 guys listed. I would think 2 starters, 2 backups, and at most 2 develop guys on PS.
Now either Dallas absolutely sucks at developing OL, or Hyatt and Knight should be just about to the point of being able to start if needed. Steele has experience now, and if they developed his strength, who knows. I know nothing about Alercon, but he is young and has the size for sure.

So IF and I repeat IF they think Collins and Smth are the starters and Nsekhe the game day swing..............They have the backups in Knight and Hyatt at the right age and development. They have the younger developers in Steele and Alercon. I don't see the need for swing tackle at all.

IMO they have a bigger need for Guard and Center.

DL has Gregory and DLaw, then Hill and Gallimore, both showed flashes last season in a screwed up scheme. Then there is Bashem, Watkins, Urban as rotation players.
Then Anea, which we need to see. And Woods and Armstrong that could get replaced from the draft, and should be.

We need LB's period. Because there are only 6 on the roster including hybrid Neal. I know many want LVE and Jaylon out, as that is the whipping boys duo this year. But I think they will be much better with Quinn and better and healthy surrounding players. But the still need LB's regardless for depth in not for future starters. I am not sold on Gifford or Bernard yet, but they are fans TC favorites. And we know that is not a good track record for those type of pet cats, IMO.

DB's, we just need them all over the place. Brown and Lewis are ok, can start until someone steps up, or a top CB is drafted, such as Surtain, Farley, Horn depending where they are drafted, 10 to 15. S's, I don't like what we have, until I see it on the field. Need to see more of Wilson, is Kearse the stop gap guy, or Kazee. No real depth either, we do not know about Reggie Robinson yet. Canady is depth but more ST's type guy.
So they need to draft heavy in DB's. See what they get.

How many do we NEED? Probably 3 or 4....how many SHOULD WE get? Every position should be upgraded. To me the only legit starter we have based on how they played last year is Demarcus Lawrence....maybe Donovan Wilson.

Or QB - you know it’s coming.

At the start of the off-season, I believe 5 was a good number. It looks like we got two in fa, with Urban and Neal. Not great upgrades, but upgrades nonetheless. Think we should add at least two, day 1 impact starters, with another one being a rotational type of player along the DL. Don't think we are done with fa just yet either, remember we signed Griffen late in the process last yr, perhaps we do the same after the draft to plug the remaining holes.

Gallimore played well for a rookie - IMO 1 DT spot is set.
