how many of you think we could use a true fb?

I would venture to guess, though, that any team would jump at the opportunity to draft a Johnson-type clone in the 2nd round if he existed.

I doubt we will ever see such a player again for a very long time.

If only Moose-type fellows grew on trees....

...or Erik Williams, Mark Tuinea's, Nate Newton's, Mark Stepnoski's, Novaceks etc.

This current team is lacking talent FAR more than most realize.

We'll never have the aforementioned line again, but I certainly don't want this present line again by any stretch.

Yep, a fb is not going to help much when the Dline is getting penetration.

Just adds to the traffic...it was nice to see the fb getting more involved in the passing game for a while though. The factor is overlooked as part of our success in the 90's to keep the D honest.

A fullback of moose's ilk will never be on a parcells coached team. BP is anamored with the single backset. Polite is no moose, however even moose could'nt block against a 8 or 9 man front. Quite honestly he would'nt have to, When teams stacked the line we simply 3 step dropped and hit irvin on the slant or jay slipped down the seam and gouged the defense.

we lack the receivers or the coaching to use this same formula. It's simple the run first and run often BP philosophy is the 80's version of football that parcells lives. NEWSFLASH, BP- Defensive coordinators are eating us alive. Open the damn playbook for F*sakes!
PS. next year the same philosophy so get use to it if BP is still here!

somebody call up Kevin Gogan as well.

The idea of using the all-around fullback over the point of attack blocking fullback has been prevalent in the NFL for awhile. I'm starting to get more in favor for the blocking fullback as they need all of the run blocking help they can get. As bad as the pass blocking is (and whether you want to blame Drew for that or not), the run blocking has been bad for a long time.

I understand the reasoning for the all-around fullback given the way the 53 man roster limits you and the NFL game today does make it more important to pass the ball, so you could always use a fullback with receiving skills. But I think in Dallas' case, they need to get the real thing.

I believe they are important to the solid running teams.......along with a solid line.

You are so right.

We cannot afford to sweat the little things and ignore the big ones. Fullback should be way down on the totem pole.

We need a true FB or a better blocking HB type, like Cooley in Washington, who blocks quite well, which might be why he became the #1 alternate for the ProBowl ahead of Witten.

Witten is not a very good blocker....he doesn't have very good feet, which is evident when he catches the ball...he almost never can get going after the catch and is usually an easy tackle...he needs to improve his blocking as a regular TE. We need to add a very good FB or a HB.

Funny because Witten lead all TE's in yards after the catch last year and I believe he was a top 5 in that category for WR's as well.

Witten's blocking has been a disappointment, but he's hardly an easy tackle.

That makes too much sense. :)

How many yards have our "well-rounded" fullbacks really contributed anyway? I'm not talking about a third down back like Richie Anderson was, but a guy you play in the backfield at the same time as the tailback. Seems like those guys are only good for the very occasional flat pass anyway, so why not get someone who might be able to help our poor O-line block?
