This is NOT an anti Dak post so shut up in advance kiddies before you use the h word

I am asking about how many times you have seen any part of a football players leg snap in half like you would crack a chicken bone to make a wish. Personally I can only think if 5 myself and I have been watching a long time: Alex Smith, Allen Hurns, Joe Theismann, Napoleon McCallum and Dak. I am sure there is one or two I am forgetting. 2 of those 4 never played again, the other 2 were never the same. Then there is Dak. Why is there not more concern? Just because it's an ankle? I am surprised at the lack of conversation on it (granted I could have missed a thread or two).

I am open to hearing that I am wrong. Medically speaking, is his specific injury less concerning than if the bone that snapped was his tibia?

Every injury and recovery are not exactly the same. In some of those cases like Theismann sports medicine is a lot more advanced. I can remember a time when an achilleas tear was the end of you career now we see guys come back from that injury.

Because they are making a big deal about his shoulder instead. Great distraction technique! The Jones boys weren't born yesterday.

The main reason there is not more concern is medial science. We get better and fixing stuff every year. Likewise protective gear is always getting better. The other reason is the relative importance of the injured area to the position he plays. He's not some jitterbug running back or DB.. He's a QB. The main concern for that ankle are guys rolling on it.. kinda like what happened when it was injured in the first place.. Only if it happens now it will have the best brace money can buy on it and titanium rods reinforcing on the inside. That ankle is now about 5 times as strong as it was before he hurt it.

I think I remember a player that broke it at the knee. He was laying on the ground and foot was still planted in the turf and leg up to the knee was standing straight up like he was still standing. Was that the raiders player or nepoleon. Or a Commander that was not joe. Daks was pretty bad.

These guys are getting stronger and faster. I’ve been training for over 35 years. You can make the human body do anything. Major league baseball. Just about every picture control the ball 95 miles an hour. By doing hip exercises. Like you see Prescott doing on the field. That’s why he hurt his latissimus muscle. We have to do what we canIn developing better uniforms helmets pads braces. We also know how to heal the human body better and differently than we ever have before. This is a brutal brutal game they play

And then they try to fix it themselves by banging in their leg or foot on the ground. I remember a basketball game college I think the young man was running down the sideline and his leg just started to flop. It’ll turn your stomach

Dak's ankle injury is healed 100%. There is no need to discuss it further. Is that so hard to understand?
I think this post goes further than that discussion. It’s about injuries in general I think

Joe Thiesman was rushed to a emergency room and did not see a specialist till the next day.

Dak had a specialist looking at injury within a few minutes

The one I’ll never forget, is Joe Theismann

I have still never watched that one or the Alex Smith one.. I refuse.. It gives me flashbacks to all the times guys came in at my legs while I was running the ball. The only thing that saved me was being a short guy who used choppy steps to always be ready to make a cut. My feet were never planted on the ground for more than half a second. I did get rolled up on a time or two when blocking or making a tackle because you kinda HAD to plant your feet and hunker down to do those things.. Partially tore the MCL in my right knee when a teammate rolled on it while I was making a tackle once. Cost me a whole year.. but it wasn't bad enough for surgery.. Just rest then rehab.. A LOT of rehab.

One of my best friends. It’s a two times Super Bowl running back. Oakland Raiders back in the 70s. We still train together now and then. The stories he tells me OMG

I watched that game, saw it in real speed then 1 replay of it and never looked at it again do not have the stomach for it. That was a nasty break, even Lawrence Taylor jumped up and was waving frantically at the Commanders bench for trainers to get out there.

I saw it live also. Well TV. Yeah even Lawrence was freaked out. Too many games too many seasons. The only thing good about it was, it was truly a clean hit

Zach Miller's (TE) leg injury cost him his career fwiw.

And they called back that touchdown.
