How many times did Romo check out of a run?

Seems like I heard "Kill, Kill, Kill" a bunch and when you heard that it was always a pass. Is he checking out of called runs a bunch?

I started to think that as well. Our run/pass ratio is horrible. Teams don't even attempt to line up and play the run anymore. Not that they have to. We have no one who can break an arm tackle. Did you see the run where Dunbar was tackled in the backfield by a cornerback with ONE arm? I he stays on his feet, he scampers for 40 yards. OMG!

It doesn't mean he killed a run play for a pass play, he could have had two pass plays and killed the first one over second play due to defensive alignment.

Fact is, no one here can tell you exactly how many run plays were killed, Callahan was pass happy yesterday.

You're correct. We don't know, but we do know that Romo has the ability to check or even change the play all together.
Saying that Callahan was pass happy would be off the mark since we don't really know if he indeed dictated all of the called plays.

Bottom line is good OC dictate the play and don't allow a defense to dictate the play for them.

That's the sad truth, our offense, despite the quality players, let's opposing defenses dictate to us.

If, somehow, which I do not believe, Romo was habitually checking from run to pass? Take his toy away and make him run the one play called because what he's doing isn't helping.

But, as I believe, I think we have two offensive coaches who aren't able, and can't be bothered to call a decent run game.

We know Garrett has always needed help in that area (Tony Sporano, Dan Reeves), but it looks like he's hired a kindred spirit in Callahan, who was even able to demolish Nebraska's mighty running game.

I agree 100% and I can't stand out coaching staff from head to toe besides marinelli and biscotti? St coach, but you could even blame Jerry jones a little bit because when he gave romo the contract he insisted that his brain dead qb be more involved, more in control, and have more say over everything.
He sure as hell stuck to his word for once about making Garrett feel uncomfortable. Teams a mess and the oc and dc couldn't be any worse for this particular team. Romo NEEDS a guy like Parcells to fear, that's why I'm hoping gruden come next year

you guys do know that just calling KILL KILL KILL does not mean its an audible? That sometimes it is not?

Just cuz there's 2 plays called in the huddle doesn't mean the other play was a run. It could have been 2 passes and he "Killed" the other pass play.

Do you think you would ever see the likes of Brady, Brees, Manning, or Rogers come off the field after a great play and shove his head coach the way Romo did? Yes, I know it was a friendly shove, but still.......I thought it says alot about the relationship Romo has with Red and that being maybe some lack of respect.

How is this related to this thread you ask? I think the lack of respect Romo may have for Red leads to a lack of accountability between the QB and the HC which in turn may lead to a QB not sticking to the system as much as he should.

I could be wrong though.

yeah but Murray had 2 carries in the 1st QTR for 25yds. I dunno if Murray got hurt or what (heard something about ankle? i dunno), the only thing I can think of for getting away from the run game is that they felt the RB had to stay in to help protect against the pass rush.

How could a fan or media member even know?

Fwiw, if you watch witten on the postgame he said right out to babe that romo was calling everything at the line on the final drive.

One time Tony got excited after Sam Hurd scored a touchdown, and he picked Sam up in the air and body slammed him in the end zone. I guess he gets excited at times.

I think you are misreading this.

If you listen to how guys like Dez, witten and romo talk about Garrett I think they have a ton of respect for him.

Witten spoke highly of him again on the post game.

I know fans don't want to hear that and myself I am not a Garrett fan really....especially when he had two chances to challenge third Downs In which he would have won both times and didn't......drove me nuts yesterday.

It amazes me the amount of people that think killing one play means it had to be checked into the opposite. A pass play can be changed to another pass play.

WIthout knowing what play was called, or actually being Romo, I don't think anyone can honestly answer that. It would be speculation at best.

I don't see that at all. I think it's a close relationship. I also saw Dez slapping at somebody and Romo after the last drive and smiling........I don't think that was a lack of respect for his QB, either.

The last drive was like 8 plays, what's the reason for the 55 or so before that? lol

In reality, Tony probably did check out of run a lot. But when the ratio is so skewed, you can't blame it on the QB making audibles. They weren't calling run.s
