But it begs the question(s)?

How many times have they cheated?

How many times where they just didn't get caught?

Have they done anything legit?

How long has Belicheat been the HC there? Thats prob your answer. Its pretty clear that a 6th round hack at QB would not be successful early in his career under normal circumstances. But, if the QB and offense knows what the defense is doing before the play even happens, well there are a lotta QB's that could succeed with that advantage. I bet Geno Smith could even play fairly well with that cheating advantage.

Good response. Could have started there.

When the SpyGate controversy first happened, Bill Parcells was on ESPN. I wish I had recorded this to show it. But, you could tell instantaneously that Parcells knew Belichick was cheating because when asked how to defend against a team spying, Parcells smiled and laughed and then came up with a very detailed plan of how he would combat it (using wristbands) and the co-host asked to the effect "seems like you have had experience with this?" and Parcells smiled and laughed and said something like "you could say that."

It just screamed to me that Parcells knew that Belichick did that and figured out how to combat Belichick's cheating.

Outside of the Patriots, the main person to blame here is Goodell. As I stated from the moment that the SpyGate evidence was destroyed, Goodell did nothing to ever prevent cheating of that nature from ever happening again. You could ask every owner if they would give up a first round pick (when they had 2 first round picks) and a $1 million fine for their coach in exchange for a Super Bowl they would ask "where do I sign up?!?!?!??"

Furthermore, Goodell had the perfect opportunity to punish the Patriots with SpyGate. With DeflateGate he has to abide by the rules from the CBA which is why Brady only got a 4-game suspension. But with SpyGate, he could have thrown the book at Belichick and he would have no recourse since there is not a coaches union.

He really screwed the pooch.

Thanks for that story. I figured that.

I disagreed somewhat... Re: Goodell. He had to dole out punishment and still protect the brand from further tarnishment.... Tough call but yes he should have suspended Belicheck for a year. If you suspend Peyton then you suspended BB.

Where I disagree is that Goodell had to do "something" to prevent cheating in future. Who knows what that would be... Who is to say that anything would have worked.... Because....
