.............do you think Emmitt would have finished the season with in 1999 if he didn't break his hand? I think he would have broke Walter Payton's single-game rushing record, probably even became the NFL's first 300-yard rusher. He is the one who should actually have the single game record, IMO. That Monday night, he had 13 carries for 140 yards about halfway through the 2nd quarter. He said himself he was in a serious groove and he wasn't even tired. What was the reason they didn't let him back in the game for the 2nd half? I remember him saying he told the trainers to wrap it up so he can keep playing. The following week, the Cowboys amazingly beat Green Bay without The Triplets. Chris Warren had 85 yards on 19 carries, and I think Emmitt would have had another 200+ yard game that day. The 2nd Eagles game made a difference that year too. He only got one carry and injured his groin and didn't come back. I think if he would have finished the Minnesota game it would have given him a head of steam and he would have had over 1800 yards and topped is 1773 he had in 1995. Even the team would have been in better shape with him running like that. The thing I hate the most was that he was leading the NFL in rushing when he got hurt, AT 30 YEARS OLD!! That's when he was supposed to be washed up. I'm happy with the 4 rushing titles he won, but he should have had 6. At least 6.

Other than 1994 this is the season I wouldn't mind having back.

Given that he broke 200 yards once in his career, this comes off as rose-tinted speculation. That being said, Emmitt was having a great game against Minnesota and was very impressive in 1999. Interesting to wonder how much of that was due to the blocking of Lafleur.

I always wondered this myself, I think he would have got it.

I think he might have beat his career high that he set in 1995. I bet he wishes he would have waited until after the game to tell them about his hand.
