How mentally tough is McFadden?

I can see how things could feel tough for McFadden. The dude stepped up to the plate in the wake of the loss of Murray and performed admirably. He didn't whine and moan when the team started the underwear thief in front of him. He played his role. Then when he got his opportunities, he shined. Now the team has drafted a running back superstar who will likely beat him out for the starting role. A lot of athletes would take that personally. However, if McFadden is mentally tough, he'll simply work hard and do the best job he can in whatever role the team puts him in. He may not even make the team. If he doesn't, I believe he'll do well for an NFL team. I suspect he'll remain a Cowboy, though. If I were to put money on it, I suspect Dunbar will be the odd man out.

It's always good to have a former blue chip guy nearing the end in the locker room. He has a better chance reaching Zeke or Dez than Alfred Morris imo regardless of Morris one great year.

He seems pretty mentally tough to me. I'm sure he wants to keep going and be a lead back, but I also feel he's thankful to have come back and had a productive year. It let him sort of prove to others and himself he has what it takes. I hope he makes the team and gets the taste of what a winning season is like.

At this point, I'm just hoping we get a good offer for him before the season starts.

Not tough enough to "want" to pick up a block on 3rd down.
He could end up being a surprise cut for this very reason.
Protecting Tony Romo is and has become a franchise emphasis, and RBs that can not pick up a blocking assignment will be cut.

He'll make the team.

From what I have heard and read, McFadden has taken Elliott under his wing and has been helping him.
Elliott, McFadden, Morris wil be the RB's. Jackson is still a PS guy. Or if they keep 4 RB's, he will be the 4th and be inactive until Dunbar returns.
They can always use Rod Smith too, if he makes the team as the FB.

Seems he blocked well last year. I don't recall them saying he did not block well.

The only thing that will knock him off the roster is Morris having an extra year on his contract.

McFadden has already shown he's going to handle the arrival of Zeke like a pro and will be sure to mentor him well. I'm in agreement with the Rev that Dunbar is the most vulnerable RB to possibly be replaced by the talented Damien Jackson. Since Dunbar is likely to begin the season on the inactive list, Jackson should likely get the nod to do what Dunbar normally would. If Jackson has success in doing so it just might win him a spot.

All he needs to prove is that he wasn't no mistake. In draft, in NFL, as cowboy.
Him and Romo are in similar boat. Its the same but different.

Win SB.

Expect to see a lot of 2 RB sets in this offense this year. What that means is we'll be carrying at least 4 RB's along with a FB.

McFadden is here to stay.

McFadden is a great blocker. What are you talking about?

I don't know what the heck you were watching last season but DMac was the best blocking RB on this team last year. Ready, willing, physical, able, and effective. I understand if the guy isn't everyone's favorite RB but let's not twist reality to fit a false narrative.
