How much can we save by cutting Osa?

We can save $12 million by cutting him before June. I would either cut him or move him to DE to get some use out of him.

Osa is not a DT, He's a pass rusher and we need pass rush help

We do not save 12MM. We would have to take an additional 12MM hit before June.

Where did you get these numbers from?

You won’t save money by cutting him this year plus osa has some value. Obviously undersized in the run game and Eberflus plays a run first defense. Not a good combo there, but his pass rush numbers are in line with his career norms, and aren’t bad given they rotated the DT groups frequently this year.

Fair to argue that he hasn’t lived up to his new contract so far, but I don’t think he is anywhere close to a cut candidate yet. What the cowboys need is a DC capable of getting creative to maximize the DT trio.

I think Osa (like everyone else) would benefit from a new defensive coordinator, but I don’t think he will ever live up to his contract.

The big contracts for all three current defensive tackles presents a short term salary cap problem that will have to be juggled/managed elsewhere on the roster.

They’re locked in with Osa for at least another year or two.

I would agree and while I think the odds are they keep all 3 them being stuck with osa could always cause the to move on from Clark for the cap relief. I think it really depends on the next DC and their roster philosophy. For many 3 high paid dts is just a waste. For others they’ll get them all on the field.

Agreed.

I think they’d make for a very good 3-man front with Clark at nose tackle.

With Ezeraku and Clowney outside, I think you’ve got something.

I wonder the same thing about Clark. I hope the fact that they’re stuck in OSA’s deal doesn’t force them to cut or trade Clark.

And you can tell he's a pass rusher by amassing a whopping 16.5 sacks in merely 5 seasons.

We can't afford not to have him with his ears pinned back getting after the QB.
