Head coaches like Pete Carroll have been blasted for throwing it on the 2-yard line in the Super Bowl against the Patriots, etc. and Garrett has often been blasted for poor play calls in games, but I was under the impression that, generally, an offensive coordinator has only about 10 seconds to decide and call the next play, given that the play clock is winding down quick, which is no time at all for a consultation between the OC and head coach. It's all on the OC.
So how much offensive playcalling is really the fault of the HC? (Mid-game, that is, not in terms of setting strategy before the game.)
Mind you, I want Garrett gone as much as anyone else, so I'm not defending him. I'm just asking how much of the bad offensive playcalling is really his fault.
