How Much Did We Improve on Defense?

So? Neither is likely to have any success rushing the passer. Overton is barely an NFL player. They traded their second best DT
Overton is an NFL ready run stuffer. Where in the world are you getting that he's barely an NFL player?

No, Gary is about the same as a pass rusher as Clowney. We basically got a younger version.

Clowney has never been more than just a decent player. It's so strange how people on here are grossly overrating a journeyman type.
Fine. About the same still isn't an improvement.

The edge rushers thing is possibly true. We do have several promising young guys, however.

Q is a huge upgrade from Osa. Clark is also, albeit a bit old. How do you see it as a downgrade?
Q, Clark, and Osa were all on the team last year. They replaced Osa with like Bullard and Ogbonnia

Its like people think they didn't all play against Detroit and Minnesota last year.

overall, the talent on the DL end to end is probably up some
Osa was nowhere near as much a loss as some here claim
I still hold out some hope we bring Clowney back

Clowney is a solid player which is more than we mostly have had
considering the absolute dreck we had on the DL until we got Q and Clark, he probably looked a lot better

I proposed a trade for Jackson Powers Johnson who’s fallen out of favor with Las Vegas. He can play guard or center which would allow the team to move Tyler Smith to left tackle full time if Guyton doesn’t work out.
That's not a bad idea for a late-round pick or an expendable player, like Bell should they be hard up for Safeties (or way undersized LBs). He could compete with Bass and 'may the best man win' and the other be active as a versatile backup.

The thing is, Smith has been vehemently clear he doesn't want to move from Guard, nor do a lot of fans want him to move. But in my opinion, a good LT is more important than a great Guard, especially when you have other options at Guard who would probably be serviceable at worst.

Well no, it's not. It's at best the same.

I think they would have to give Tyler Smith a raise to left tackle money if they wanted to make an official move.

My guess is that he’d ultimately do it for the best interests of the team and himself.

Yeah, I mean, he did it at the end of last season when the games were relatively meaningless, so...

And got better against the run. Osa was a 280lb rag doll versus the run. It’s why they shipped him out. That and realizing they overpaid on that contract.

In a Matt Eberflus defense. Playing with one arm tied behind your back.

Because he's just different. People saying it recognize something in him.

Is he guaranteed? I don't think so. The players have to execute. But from what it looks like l, this year is entirely different.

Yeah we’ve heard the same arguments before.

I prefer to wait and see actual results first.

Nope. To any of that.

The idea that Parker is better is just a guess, and it's also irrelevant to the point I was making so

No production, no measurables. He has no ceiling
He has a ceiling. He was once rated the number one over all recruit in the nation. I think that had something to do with his dad's football ties, but still. At one point..

KSK is right tho. He's a slow twitch run stopper. 2 down rotational player.

Take away Guyton, or even Steel, add Bass at guard and Smith at tackle, and it's a better OL.
