There is a union scale that the SAG negotiates with the industry. This was mentioned on the Dan Patrick show, on a basketball blog I read, and friend in the business. Extras with speaking parts such as "Guard #1 at Bank" are paid more.

I think, don't really remember offhand, there are specific rules in place that defines an 'extra' from a cast member.

IIRC, a couple of years ago when I was in LA, it was a couple hundred dollars a day. And when you appear six times as an extra, you have to become a part of SAG best I can remember.

My friend is an extra for a lot of shows on NBC and she says they get paid on time on set. First 8 hours its normal pay anything past that is 1.5x and anything over 16 hours is 2.5x. Some weird scale like that, but if you can find consistent extras work than your going to make some good money.

I've never heard of it being anywhere close to that. Must have been a special occurrence for something. Generally it's close to $50 a day.

I was a football player in the movie we are Marshall. I typically made 100 a day with a few days being around 175.

Super boring. We shot for 12 hours usually and that full day would be maybe 2 minutes of movie time bc you shoot the same scene in tons of diff angles. We finished at 4 and 5 am severAL times. Usually made more on the later shoots.

Cool experience but not something I would do over.
