One only has to look at history
Terry and Lynn
Roger and Drew
Joe and Jerry
Troy and Michael
That is just off the top of my head. Yet, each of those combos had running to some extent. Rocky Bleir (sp), Tony Dorsett, Calvin Hill, Wendell Tyler, Ricky Watters, Emmitt, etc..
What do you remember about these teams? Instinctively, the players seemed to be on the same page. It was like a match and gasoline. By themselves, they weren't TOO harmless, could even be helpful if you think about it. However, put they together and who wants to be the person or team for that matter fighting it?
I have noticed, perhaps wanting to notice it, but Tony Romo seems to be friends or at least very socialable. I noticed that in the middle of a tirade of Mr. Owens, Tony Romo took the time to pat him on the back. However, get this, he didn't run after him and try to calm him down. He just smiled to the player he was already speaking with. Why offend someone else to calm down a player that is ALWAYS upset? Only difference, he acknowledged his teammate's temper. I thought, just for a moment, the same moment before a lit match land on the gasoline, that Owens smiled and looked at Romo as if, "finally someone sees me and knows what I am going through..."
Rumor has it, that Romo had told Owens that if he got in the game and the situation was there, he would throw to him. Well he did it. Now, I almost don't believe it myself. However, he seemed to understand that if you have a 500 Horsepower car, you don't hop on your bicycle to run a race.
Lastly, and probably WAY off point, but I am huge racing fan. Horse racing that is. Secretariat, was one if not the best horse ever. There is film of him actually staring at a horse before a race in the gate. While many horses seem nervous, he was calm, yet could be fierce. He would actually accellerate in the turn. Try that running, driving or even walking. Gravity is a B***h. However, I really relate to animals and people that assume they can always win.
My father, before he passed recently, would harp on me about playing games, working, etc. He would say "son anybody can try, only one can win." So since they dress in the uniform to play, why not win. Why not win big.
And when you are going around the turn for the stretch home, why not accellerate and have the joy of watching other teams just quit as the horse would quit chasing what they couldn't understand that greatness can only be caught by running after it and never ever giving up.
