How much impact can one position provide?

For example, if you have an average (or slightly less than average defense one year) and it performs at an elite level the next year, how much difference does that make over all?

QB play is more obvious to me. Elite play there can change things a bunch. What about safety's? LB's? DE's? O-line?

I think it can be huge when you take a unit with one weakness, address it, and now be strong across the board. That takes you from good to great.

You can win a SB with an elite Defense, and a so so offense.

Look at 2000 when the Ravens beat the Giants. Their offense was not all that great, and had Trent Dilfer at QB.

Dak is so much better, as our offense will be so much better than that Ravens offense. So if our defense can get to a top 5 defense and be consistent.
Who knows what can happen.

About as much difference if not more than adding an elite QB when you had an average one the year before. True story.

Super Bowl 50, too. Manning was awful that year, including the playoffs, and their defense carried them.

I've heard people say on here numerous times "Defense will win you Superbowls". At first I could never understand that statement but the more I watch, the more I realize there isn't a truer statement then that...

Some more than others. The #1 offense will not score on every series but a top 10 defense will keep you in most games.

The offensive line and the defensive line are most critical. You can have Earl Campbell at RB and Mike Alstott at FB at the goal line but you wont score not one td with turnstiles upfront.

On defense you could have deion sanders, jack tatum, ronnie lott and Aneas williams but you wont do squat if the dline gets put on their back
