I mean the Cheifs put Mahommes out there, why can't we put our starter out there? Do you think we need to see them in some action to get possible rust off, or just sit them and wait until the season starts to avoid injury?

I think if anything the starting O-line may need to be in for a series or two together just to form some cohesiveness with each other, please give your thoughts on other starters who may need to play some in the preseason

Now, bear with me. I am going out on a limb here, so be nice.

Answer: Maybe our starters should play during the preseason just as often as starters on other teams *expected* to challenge for the postseason?

I don't know. The answer just popped into my head just now...

No projected starter is getting a single snap. That’s a league wide thing now.

If I were Dallas, this year, I’d try to gain a bit of an advantage for that first game since it’s so important by playing at least the offense a few series… but they will not.

As if they can’t get injured in regular camp drills.

Totally agree, brother!

Our starters need to play 2-3 series during Game 1 (preseason).

2+ quarters during Game 2 (preseason).

Take Game 3 (final preseason game) off. Leave it for the backups and who is worth keeping.

Based on how Mr 3-5 started last season I would say he should be playing at least a quarter up to a half in each of the pre season games.

The rest of the starters should get at least a quarter

Why even ask other than to start a new thread.

We all know what will happen, or not happen.

However, they should get a few series for at least 2 games, maybe all 3 games.
All you had to say, all he had to say!!!

What games are you watching starters play in preseason except cowboys !

Not sure what you mean but I’ll do it again. No team plays starters in the preseason any longer. Not just this one.

If I were Dallas, I would give them some reps this year so opening night in Philly isn’t the first time these guys are taking a snap together. It may help them gain a small advantage on that night, which is going to be much needed.

And again, it only my suggestion they will not do it.

At the minute, we don’t have a settled starter for RB, so I’d be getting those guys game time. Hard agree on the OL as well. Same goes for other much changed position groups such as LB and CB, where I’ll be interested to see if the ‘Bland in the slot’ thing is going to limit him or not.

The Cowboys would be the only team in the league to do this.

If Dak was rolled up and injured, the Zone would blame Dak and the coaches and forget all about their comments in this thread that they should toughen up and go old school.

I'm not sure DAK will play a series during the pre season. If he does it will be handoffs to the back or passes in the flat, or perhaps a 5 yard curl. Face it, the dude is now injury prone and older. They will save his snaps and legs and body for when it counts.

They need to play. Quite a bit. I’m tired of this philosophy of treating the first month of the season like the preseason. As tough as our schedule is down the stretch it is imperative we get off to a fast start
Absolutely. This comparison may seem a bit ‘apples and oranges’, but in soccer, the idea of not giving your first choice guys pre-season playing time to get up to speed would be considered total madness.

And no one give me ‘injury risk’. You send a guy out into an NFL regular season with just gym/practice fitness, having not given his muscles a competitive rep in 9 months (and more in Dak’s case), and the risk of injury is far higher, as his body starts doing stuff at a level of intensity it’s become unused to.
