Is needed to quench your thirst from this massive SB drought the Cowboy's have experienced?

I was thinking about it earlier, if the Cowboy's won the SB next year would i feel satisfied? The quick answer is no.

Growing up in the 80's i experienced a long drought and i'm sure you experienced it in some form as well. I didn't experience any SB victories till 92. With two older brothers constantly reminding me of the glory days of the 70's and the heartbreaking losses to the Steelers, i became pretty thirsty for some SB wins. Back than the only access to information about these stories that i had was ESPN films which was like a form of Church to me with all it's drama.

So 92 rolls around and were playing SF in the NFC championship game. What a game! SB vs Buffalo was next and we were losing early, i was red as a lobster from anger. We quickly came back and won easily. I was relieved and that feeling satisfied my thirst. The next SB win was a feeling of riding the wave of success. Next Jimmy was gone, turbulence followed with a eventual SB game vs the Steelers in 95. I like most of you knew at this time we needed to win this SB, it might be awhile till the next one. I didn't think it would take more than two decades though.

After experiencing this like most of you have in some way, after all these average results over the years will a single SB victory quench your thirst? I guess if your young and never experienced it before than the one SB victory will be justice. If your getting old and just want to see one more before the clock stops i also get that.

:star:

I guess we should win first and worry about this later.

what irks some of us off, we could have won it a few times and threw away great opps. Being fearful of Atlanta and GB for no reason, really irked me. Whats the big killer is Garrett, your RB has 51 yards in the first quarter, what does he do, stop the run. Unpreparedness, bad challenges, bad clock management. Garrett is still learning the job and wasted a few great opps.

While we always want more my plates pretty full. I’ve lived thru all of the championships . I can tell you back before we ever made the playoffs never dreamed we’d win 5 and have the success we had for 4 decades . What a ride!!

Most NFL fans don’t get anything like that. Anybody can root for a winner. It builds character rooting for a loser and makes you appreciate the smaller achievements.

We aren’t that championship franchise any longer. It’s not our fault . It is what it is. It will come around again but like other NFL cities it could take 40 or 50 years.

As someone whose memory of Cowboys' football begins somewhere around 1997, one SB would honestly be enough. In fact, even appearing in an NFC championship would be the most exciting sporting event I've ever bared witness to.

2 playoff wins amidst nothing but heartbreak is difficult to handle. Just becoming a true, consistent contender again as opposed to this on again off again reality would be unbelievably encouraging.

I would want more. But I'm a fan and am selfish! But just an NFC title game would be nice at this point to be honest. We can't even do that. It's embarrassing folks.......it really is.

I want to see a confident team that can compete in the post season. The Pats don't win every year, but they're in the mix. Same with the Steelers, This team has some talent but when their backs are against the wall, they're pretenders. Been that way since the home field debacle in 2007. Giants blew right by them and the Cowboys are still rebuilding. lol

Just a single SB appearance, let alone a win, would likely do it for me. Hopefully that thirst quenching would not have to last through another 20+ year drought, though.

Winning just makes it more fun.

I’ve been a fan of my local college and Alma Mater for over 50 years too and they suk. A dormant team most years. Went 50 years without winning a conference championship.

It’s a different mindset following and rooting for a dormant/ mediocre franchise.

I'd just like to see us become a consistent franchise that is playoff contending every season. I think hoping for anything more is not realistic.
I salute those fans who are young enough to have only seen a couple of playoff appearances. I don't know that I could do it. It's flat out embarrassing that the Jones family hasn't been able to put a consistent winner on the field. A whole generation of cowboys fans haven't seen them win ****.

Hey but we got world class art in our palace of a stadium...

At this point, I want to see an NFC Championship game but then I would want the Super Bowl win because I know they probably won't go back for awhile.

Heck, can we at least get two years in a row at the dance?????? :muttley:

Wow. Yall are greedy...I'll start with one before I even think of anything more...

I was 12 when I experienced my first Cowboys SB and it took a long time til I experienced my second. Nothing beats the first one after a long drought. But I always felt the highs of winning one is never as great as the lows of losing. Maybe I'll feel different now because it's been so long. Maybe because I'm used to losing now and don't really think I'll ever see another one.

I go back to 1960, so have seen all the eras, growth, decline, ups, downs, etc.

Right now, I’d settle for making the playoffs 2 seasons in a row and AT LEAST advancing into the NFC Champ game in one of those seasons.

Then, see if we can get a third straight playoff visit, advance into a SB appearance and, hopefully, get a win.

But first we’ve gotta get to the point where we can consistently make the postseason.

I feel like a Cubs fan at this point. Right now I would be happy with one SB trophy.
