if Bobby Carpenter in week 1 just started laying people out like a madman, and carried it on all year?

I think that if he would just deal one monster hit on an opposing RB or QB, he'd realize that he's not as fragile as he thinks he is.

We could just pretend that we picked him with our 1st this year that went to RW11 and that we got RW11 for a steal.

A guy can dream, right?

I keep going back on forth...on one side I want to say Bobby Carpenter is going to have a really good year. Nothing earthshattering but a good season.

He knows the defense, has had time to learn and perfect the craft, and can move pretty decently.

On the other hand, the only reason this guy was a 1st rounder is because his dad played for Parcells and he played alongside AJ Hawk. If he is a player, we most likely would've known by now. He doesnt have Phillips' trust for a reason.

However I cant use your logic for the 1st rounder this year.

We wasted that pick. I wanted Cromartie soo bad. I like Jenkins, but I'd rather have Cromartie and then used last years 1st on Kenny Phillips. Then again hindsight is always 20/20, and the scouts are getting paid for a reason.

You sound like you've been hanging out with Greg Ellis, just saying any crazy thing that comes to mind.

But it would be nice if he just produced at a "solid" level. But then again, all the practice to perform at a "solid" level would probably eat into his "First Take" appearances.

I'm not a fan of Ellis. Average on the field, whiny in the locker room, the only thing I can really respect about the guy is that he is a Christian man.

I just look at Carpenter and see so much wasted potential. He's got a perfect build for his position, he just isn't physical. I don't know of anything else you can hate about the guy. The one thing he doesn't do is the one thing that is crucial about the game.

Get tough, Bobby! :bang2:

This guy is very frustrating to me.

Talent? Check.

Physical attributes? Check.

Intelligence? Check.

Knowledge of the system? Check.

Tenacity? :(

This guy looks like the complete weak ILB but just can't be physical enough. Just sad.

No he wasn't. It was because of his size/speed ratio and college production.

It be real great! One more guy we'd then have to sign for $5-6 million a year. I say let the chapter die already. The guy is too soft for pro ball. He got by on athletic ability in college but you need toughness to play in the NFL. Let some other team waste the next 2-3 years waiting on him to finally get tough, which will never happen.

If you watched enough Ohio St like I did, he rarely MADE plays. They were simply putting so much attention on Hawk that the plays kind of came to him.

But yes his size/speed was a reason, but I dont think he was ever that good of a player.

Bobby Carpenter is a 4-3 outside linebacker.

He'll never be anything more than depth here.

We should have kept Scott Shanle <--- nors will love that.

Any who the kid we draft in the 3rd round, Jason Williams, has a lot of ability and hopefully he makes us forget about Bobby real quick.

Pre-season starts August 13th. Bout that time fellas.

That would be suuuu-eeet!

He's due for a good year and that would certainly be gravy.
I'll be cheering for him and if it does not work out, he's gone next offseason. Like Wade might be.

there is no way we were moving up 10+ spots for Cromartie.

The guy looked like a man possessed in that Seattle playoff game. No one could block him, he was throwing defenders off like they were flies. His dropback coverage was fantastic, making a few great plays back in coverage. I thought for sure that was his break out game, but guess I was wrong.

Seriously, go back and rewatch that Seattle game. It sucks, I know... but watch Bobby Carpenter in that game.

I keep hearing about this and I just don't remember much about that game(other than the botched snap). If anyone could find it again online that would be great.

Didn't he almost have a pick that game?
