How often NFL offenses went three and out last season

How about me where did I go I don't consider myself a homer but I definitely am one of those proud fans won't hide from the likes of you or anybody that wants to trash my team even from within I will not allow it And you know me don't come at me and I'll talk all year but at the same time I'm a realist I understand the drought I understand the narratives I don't mean I'm hiding So as much as you want to pick on rock that's OK he'll defend himself but I'm telling you right now I'm not hiding anywhere You know who's gonna have to hide all those people have been trashing the Cowboys for years the pessimists the ones saying it'll never win anything under Jerry Jones and when it happens they're gonna hide they're gonna have to hide because they're not gonna get away from all the receipts I've been keeping for a long while...

It starts with my ignore list See you guys are gonna be easy to find because you're still around I didn't delete you I put you on ignore but this is my way of keeping tabs until this turns around and then you're gonna have to go hide See it can work both ways both can be true you're gonna be the ultimate pessimist the ultimate team hater The sky is falling every offseason you never see any hope and you talk trash well I think maybe you guys are on the other end of that spectrum you call a homer there's a hater..
 
Interesting stat. A lot of those teams I wouldn’t consider having a good offense.

Our biggest problem on offense wasn’t putting together drives. It was struggling in the red zone. If you get in top 10 in red zone TD’s the whole team is gonna be better. Helps defense a ton if they are up 7 over being up 3

Rockport, you’re easily the most oblivious regular on this board. You clearly don’t know nearly as much about football as you pretend, and every time someone brings up a basic stat like red-zone TD efficiency you have a meltdown.

And it’s pretty funny that you call everyone a “hater” when you’re probably the biggest hater here at the zone. You don’t hate the Cowboys’ opponents nearly as much as you hate other posters for disagreeing with you.

At this point I think you’re just better off on everyone’s ignore list.

So yes it was impressive how great the offense was and how much of a let down it was because how about the defense and special teams were I mean this team deserved to have 12 wins last year by how good the offense was and Brian Schottenheimer is getting too much heat for having a 7 win season when they're not looking at what he was responsible for was actually really good I know he's the head coach you're gonna say he was responsible for the rest of the team and I'm telling you he wasn't it was out of his control with the amount of injuries and I don't think even him could see that the defense was gonna be that bad The injuries were a big part of it. The injuries were a big part of it.

The offense did well overall but the issue was consistency.

I don’t think red zone efficiency was the main issue. We scored plenty of points. It’s the consistency from half to half and game to game.

And I'll say this again I think somebody might take this a little too lightly as if they didn't think hard enough about what went on last year our offense played as well as it could without help without short fields without easy points Nothing was coming from the special teams or the defense and they were becoming one dimensional when they got down because of the bad defense you call play sometimes differently when you're in these scenarios these situations are very hard to coach in and our offensive coaches who is also our head coach had problems thinking about the next series because he knew likely his defense was gonna give up another easy score and they were gonna be right back out there...

Strategy is different when you're in those situations and it's so much easier for the defense to play your offense when they know this is coming...


Gonna point those out those are facts not excuses our offense was tremendous last year they were the top offenses in the league especially when they take into factors that they didn't get a lot of free points or easy short fields to work with they were never really playing with a lead they never really got the advantages you would get on many other teams..

Again I can't stress this enough I don't think people think about this when they talk about the offensive oh I don't want to hear it they are explosive enough They could put up 20 points every game and had they had even 50% better defense we've already seen it they are always top offense but they're even better when the defense's special teams contribute they got no contributions from that side of the field at all..

Remember when this became some talk when Dan Quinn's defenses were getting a lot of short fields and pick sixes and turnovers and it was given our offense easier ways to score It made them a little more relaxed and people were like well see we gotta factor in all the defensive points it isn't just the offense scoring all these points well last year yes it was they were a top 7 team in scoring even without the help of anything else on the team...


Is why I'm not worried You should be able to win a lot of games in this league scoring 20 points if you have a team that is ready to contend I get it there are some games you might need to score 27 but that is not how real championship football is watch the Super Bowl both those teams came out It was like a heavyweight fight they couldn't figure each other out their defenses were not giving an inch and it took awhile until late in the second half for them to start scoring and Seattle eventually got enough to get it done but both those teams are fighting on defense I was watching a lot of the playoff football and man I was jealous of those defenses..

There’s a lot of truth there. But some of the inconsistency was self manufactured. I’m not worried about the offense like some are but I do have some reservations
