Picking Gregory is an advantage that comes from having the owner as the GM. Other GMs want to avoid getting fired if this type of pick does not work out. Jerry obviously is not worried about getting fired.
Steven will eventually fire him anyway.:muttley: After the Cowboys win their next SB.
Great pick. Now 3 in the rush.....

Come on That is ridiculous. The "everybody is against us" is so childish imo. BTW, this interview was before the Thursday draft.

Charles Haley was SEVERELY bipolar, and he has five Super Bowl rings and is about to be inducted into the Ring of Honor.

I don't want unpredictable guys playing QB for me. Neither do I want them at other key positions. That's why I'm iffy on Rolando McClain at MLB.

But pass rushers have a simple job. Kill the quarterback. They're like pitbulls. And many, many, many great defensive ends were wired differently like Gregory.

For a second-round pick, the risk/reward is worth it on a top 10 player.

I didn't say I would have passed on him. Heck, I was sort of rooting that he would be the pick at 27. But most teams not only passed on him twice, but some passed on him three times. Does that tell us everything? I don't think so, but I think it shows their are bigger concerns than he was stupid and tested positive at the combine.

NFL teams tend to not go against talent. When they decide to pass, that should be some kind of warning flag. Lets hope they passed on a great one who can get his life on the right path.

A lot of teams don't want to "babysit" and don't have people already there for support. The Cowboys hired Calvin Hill as an advisor a long time ago and have David Wells and others do the "babysitting" if you will.

There's surely a risk, but most teams don't have Dallas' complete lack of pass rush ability on the edge. Dallas passed on some good offensive linemen and receivers, too, because it simply isn't a great need here.

On May 1st, 2015 at 9:15 PM ET, the Dallas Cowboys selected defensive end Randy Gregory. Here's your chance to relive that moment and the hours leading up to it through the comments of other SB Nation readers as they react to Gregory's slide and the Cowboys pick. The quotes are taken from each teams' respective SB Nation site and are only edited for language.

Enjoy.

These are fun, read the rest...

I would have reacted the same way if any one of opponents in the East took him in the 2nd round as well. I'm glad it was us that was able to land him here. If he works out he will be a terror in the passrush dept. for many years to come.

Loved this one from the Bengals fan:

AWESOME DRAFT. We got TWO Left Tackles in the first 2 rounds!!! Heck yeah!!! With Whit and these 2 guys, we’re going to be the first team with a Left Tackle, a Left-Left Tackle, and a Left-Left-Left Tackle

ive been watching gregory more closely over the past couple days and heres what i see.

DEF a tweener.
I really dont know if he will ever be more than 250lbs. Just looks like a lean guy who sweats off weight easy.
Very long arms and uses his hands very well to keep the big boys off him.
Once a OT gets his hands on Gregory, the play is over for him.
Gets down the line very well in pursuit.
Ability to get inside his guy with speed probably better than going around his guy to the outside.

From what i see, this guy will see limited snaps with his hand on the ground, but play more of a role like Bruce Irvin. He is a much better version of Kyle Wilber for the Cowboys. I can see him playing base formations at the SAM and rotating at DE when Dallas is in nickle and dime. He basically gives Dallas 3 DEs on the field when in base formations and 3 passrushers on any given play in that formation. This defense is going to be scary when the whole Hardy situation is cleared up.

IN Dallas' "money green" formation, thats what they call the 4 man pass rush formation this DL is scary

"It really pisses me off that everyone thinks they know draft position better than experts.
"He would have been available in the 7th!"
Shut up. You’re dumb."

Tell me about it. I had people on Facebook tell me you could have gotten Jones in the 2nd round.

Love these trolling the nation posts.

I know you could find Cowboy fans doing the same thing had Philly taken Gregory... but it is still good to read.

That is a pretty good example how every fanbase wanted their team to draft Gregory... so when rival fans try to tell you it was a dumb pick, just remember this and tell them they're full of ****.

I was a little angry when I thought the Commanders were going to get Gregory at 5.

After the weed problem I hoped we could get him at 27.

When we got him at 60 I was ecstatic.

This was a hoot...

CommandersThis truly has all of the hallmarks of a Jerry Jones’ conspiracy which he’s been paying Gregory under the table to not show up for meetings, coming to the combine @ 198lbs and sickly, and flooding the zone that he’s on lithium for a hybrid chronic disease of schizophrenia / bipolar / OCD mania.

"Under the table" runs the world.
