How The Boyz Should Draft Made Simple

The solution presents itself when complication is removed from the equation. Where oh where do the Cowboys go at number double duce? A 3-4 pass rushing outside linebacker? A wide reviever? A cornerback? A free safety? Or how about offensive line? The answer lies benethe the complication!

When you look at the roster of the 2007 Dallas Cowboys it's clear they have no true need but they do have a couple of key positions where an upgrade could propel this team to new heights. Here's the breakdown...

Offensive Lineman - If a stud drops to 22 and there is nothing more on the board then take an o-lineman. Otherwise this is a can wait until another later round pick.

Backup Defensive Tackle - Branch has BUST written all over him. Use a 4th rounder on the NT out of Utah to solve this need/want.

Outside Linebacker - Jarvis Moss is the only guy out of this crop who may be available at 22 that I feel has any potential to make a quick impact. If he's not available pass on the rest of the OLB candidates. It's time the boys get production from Greg Ellis, Bobby Carpenter and Kevin Burnett. I do feel that adding another LB in later rounds is key!

Now I am going to lump defensive back and wide reciever into one category. Why? Because they're the same pick as far as what they'll mean to this team. Adding a great player at either of these positions at #22 will propel the Cowboys to new heights this season. This current roster is only lacking in 2 areas... Stretching the feild out (aka like the saints) on offense... And SHUTTING DOWN the deep pass. This team can go to a superbowl this year if they can do those 2 things. A wide reciever will allow Dallas to use more 3 and 4 wide reciever sets and with Witten being the best TE in the league and Barber being a pass threat out of the backfield this offense would be REAL hard to slow down. When you look at the defensive back position I think that if Dallas had the tools to totally eliminate the oppositions deep ball threat the pass rush would be extremely improved and Dallas wouldn't lose that extra 2-4 games a year because they couldn't stop the long bomb.

It's not so complicated folks... The pick will be a DB or a WR. In the words of my boy STSINAZ... "Mark It Down."

Agree with either CB or WR unless somebody who can really help our team slips to us; admittedly that's very doubtful. I'd love Revis & my first WR choice is Meacham, but most mock drafts have both gone before we pick at #22.

So it's probably between Bowe/Jarrett & Ross but Cowboys may be influenced by which position can be better filled in 2nd round. Frankly I think Ross is our best option over any of the WRs, not named Meacham, and he fills a bigger need. On the other hand, if we could draft Bowe/Jarrett in first round and CB Eric Wright in 2nd round, then I'd be happy.

In a perfect world, I'd love to see us grab another 3rd or 4th rounder. With that additional pick, I'd grab a DT like Marcus Thomas or Paul Soliai, a LB like Zak DeOssie (also L/S) or DE Brian Robinson (move him to ILB) and an OT/OG in whatever order they come.

I just want to feel good about our draft at the end of the first day and same goes for end of 2nd day. Pointing this out cause I wasn't wild about last year's first day picks (questioned Fasano and even Hatcher moves at the time) & my 2nd day mood only improved when we grabbed Pat Watkins.

You've got it completely backwards. Moss cannot contribute immediately. He's too weak. If you want an OLB that will contribute immediatley go with Anthony Spencer.

what most people dont understand is that the ONLY reason the dallas cowboys will MOST likely go WR or CB is because at pick #22 the Best player AVAILABLE will more than likely be a WR or a CB. Jerry has been on record many times stating the scouts will make the picks and they will be taking the BPA.....So will Dallas go WR or CB - sure it is very possible....but ONLY if a better player at another position is NOT available.

The best thing they can do is not get too fancy, just sit there and follow their draft board and take the best player available unless they get an offer they cant refuse to move back or someone they highly regard starts to fall within reach. Anyone they take is going to have a really hard time cracking the starting lineup and their isnt one position they couldnt use another play maker at.
