How do you keep Darian Thompson over Cedric Wilson? I understand he went unclaimed, we are lucky, but the guy showed up big time as a receiver and he can not only return punts but he can “catch them”, something highly underrated. I just don’t see the logic of keeping 5 safetys too. We are fine if we go with Woods, Heath and Frazier for a couple of weeks till Wilson gets back.

My guess is guys like him are a dime a dozen.

He’s a possession guy with no real upside. At best he might be another Patrick Crayton.

Cedric is just not that good. Unfortunately...his run after catch is pathetically bad. He left a LOT of yards on the field last game.

Now..he may get better at that but that is why he didnt make the team imo.

Olumba didnt didn the team because he doesn't want to tackle...while i am talking about guys haha

Both good quality players who I think could be the 4th guy at their position this year and could move up to 3rd next season.

Is he the guy that didn’t go out of bounds to stop the clock in that last game? No situational awareness, that irked me...

I heard they were serving KOOL-AID over here. Anyone got some for me?

I thought Cedric Wilson was a lock to make the team. He was open, caught the ball, can return punts and KOs, and I think he could even be an emergency QB (wasn't he a QB turned WR?).

I am just happy he made it through waivers and is on the PS.

Who knows the exact thought process of the ball Club but I'm glad we were able to get him back. Injured last year he was only able to rehab and attend meetings, he was not able to practice and hone his craft. This is essentially his rookie season and if we can convince him to stay put "players have the right to refuse poaching" I believe we will all be happy with the dividends he pays.

We finally agree...wholeheartedly.

We see our guys do well in preseason against backups who are also going to be out, and fans always overvalue our own players. Our SS position is fairly solid with some depth, but I’m guessing Thompson was kept as depth at FS and for special teams.

If none of our cuts were picked up, then clearly our decision makers made all the right ones, keeping guys at OL and DL who would have been claimed.

This is a part of the “roster strategy” that fans don’t know, understand or undervalue. This is basically handled like the draft in trying to understand other teams needs to improve your chances of sneaking I player through waivers.

Cedrick's competition to make the team was within his position group, not Darian Thompson. The choice was Wilson or Smith and the FO picked Smith thinking Wilson had a better chance of clearing waivers.

I know right? He's only a 6'4" 225 lbs WR who catches everything. I mean, who the heck wants a guy like that right?

Yeah I just don’t get it.

I see that he isn’t built like a short stop and that is where NFL teams are going with receivers but the guy makes plays and is a beast of a red zone weapon.

He goes and plays with the Saints and produces and still can’t make the roster.

I really misevaluated his talent I guess.
