Lots of discussion back in 95 about signing a player to a $35 million contract. Now a scrub o-line can get that. :)

Jerry:"OK Dieon 15 or 20 million?"

Dieon: "Both"

Jerry could always poke fun at himself if it made him a few bucks.

Hmmm, what happened to the pic???

I tried to get the picture in the message, but it didn't work.

Inflation alone takes care of some of that. What cost $35,000,000 in 1995 would cost $45,911,711.90 in 2006.

Salary cap was $59 mil back in 95. So Deion's "mega" contract killed any possibility of retaining our FA's and bringing in any others.

Salary cap is $109 mil now. It's a big joke.

Yeah. Now Nate Clements of all people gets $80 million when he isn't regarded as even close to the best at his position.

They were idiots. Oil and gas were trading at crazy historical lows during the 90s. Prices now are at about what they should be given inflation.

Actually this isn't correct. Deions contract had so much signing bonus and was spread over the length of the contract that the NFL actually changed the way contracts could be worked. Its refered to the Deion Sanders rule. WHich basically says a SB can't be more than I think it's 50% of the totall contract. of deions 35 mil I think something like 21 was in signing bonus.

Around here gas got to .25 or .27 and people started freaking out and wouldn't drive. Next thing you know gas stations (remember those?) would put out signs declaring "GAS WARS!!!" and the price would be lowered to .19 or .20 a gallon.

A McDonalds hamburger was .20 back then also. And it was 1 1/2 times the size of the ones today.

For those who are too young to remember:

In those days, you pulled up to the pump and stayed in your car. Usually, a young man in his late teens to early 20s would come out to your car and ask what you needed. You told him how much fuel you wanted ($5 for the big spenders, $1 for the average joe). He would then pump your gas, wash your windshield, check your oil, and air up your tires. These places were known as filling stations.

Today, you pump your own gas, check your own oil, air up your own tires, and wash your own windshield. These places are known as service stations.
