Anyone know the clinching scenarios for next week? I was playing with the ESPN Simulator and we even got in after losing the next four. Seems like a formality.

I guess it just depends on what seed you get unless you have the best record and get a bye.

Cowboys maybe get a 3 seed, possibly even a 2 seed if the Vikings screw up.

Didnt do my research, but we probably have to win two more or win one and have Seattle lose one.

We have a 3 game lead with 4 games to go. Sadly all 3 of our losses have come within the conference so we are not set up perfectly to win tiebreakers.

Regardless the odds of the Cowboys missing the playoffs at this point has to be about 1%

Even after modeling 4 losses we were still the fifth seed using the simulator.

Only way we budge off of that is if Washington gets hot and takes the 5, bumping us down to the 6

I think a win over Jacksonville pretty much clinches a spot. Last night NBC showed calculations with Dallas with 99% chance of post season

I know you know this, it just slipped your mind. But...

All division winners are seeded above all non division winners. Meaning if we don't win our division we are looking at the 5th seed at best.

The Cowboys would have to lose all of the remaining 4 games for any chance to miss the playoffs.
- Even if they lost all 4 it would still be unlikely to miss the playoffs.

If the Commodes win out, that means NYG loses to them and the Cowboys have the tie breaker over NYG.

Looking at the ways the Cowboys could be eliminated from the Playoffs:
  • Cowboys Don't make the playoffs:
    • NYG 11-5-1
    • Commodes 10-6-1 (3-2-1 in the division, split with Cowboys)
    • Seahawks 11-6
    • Cowboys 10-7 (3-3 in the division, split with Commodes)
  • Comes down to a tie breaker between Cowboys and Seahawks:
    • NYG 11-5-1
    • Commodes 10-6-1 (3-2-1 in the division, split with Cowboys)
    • Seahawks 10-7 (5 conference losses)
    • Cowboys 10-7 (5 conference losses)

We essentially would need to lose out and other the other 3 teams would need to win out.

Washington and New York have 7 wins and play each other. So only one could pass us. Detroit can only get to 10 wins and we hold the tiebreaker. Seahawks could get to 11wins but play the 49ers, chiefs, jets and rams. Unlikely to win out.

We’re pretty much guaranteed a spot. But the 5 likely won’t come down to if we win anymore games. A win against Jacksonville should lock up the 5 seed as we would have 11 wins and the tiebreaker over New York and Washington would need to lose one more

Cowboys cannot get the #2 or #3 seed if they don't win the division. Right now, unless they lose multiple games down the stretch, looks like the #5 seed.

I’m hoping we don’t clinch anything too soon. Would love to see Philly stumble to keep us motivated. The Cowboys could end up laying down the rest of the season looking ahead to the playoffs and limp in.

If we lose to Philly and have locked in the 5 - I think it makes sense to sit some guys for a game or two just to get as healthy as possible with nothing to play for

With the Cowboys going in as a WC team presumably, the best seed they can get is a 5 seed. Regardless of wins.

If we lose to Philly I think it makes sense for us to keep playing our starters to assure we’re playing well entering the playoffs. We can’t just shut it down if we lose to Philly and expect to be playoff ready. That’s a recipe for stumbling into the playoffs. You have to have some momentum entering the playoffs to have success.

Based off what I know, We can’t be eliminated until the last game of the season agaisnt the Commanders. As long as we beat the skins we’re in.

The only way we are out, is we have to lose out and essentially Seattle, Washington or NY would have to win out

There is an argument for that - but look at yesterday - what happens if you lose a CD, Pollard, Diggs or another OL playing in essentially meaningless games?

Nope cowboys can be the 1 seed depending on what Philly does. Vikings dropped the ball yesterday. Mora than likely the Cowboys will be the 5th seed.
