How to get more draft picks

You know I wanted Dallas to sign Rasheed Walker the ex Packer in the off season instead he goes to Carolina one yr deal 4 million . Plug him in at LT let Guyton & Steele fight it out at RT . Nope had to go fishing with draft picks to get a T .

Well instead of “ gaining “ picks Dallas traded two got one back the net effect is moving down to the 4th round no 3 no 6 . Hopefully Jones takes the RT job and stays healthy as a one year rental .
Dont be surprised if Jerry goes full LA rams and trades away all of next years draft picks in a win it all move. that capspace was made for a reason. Might not be used till the trade deadline but they will absolutely be making a play with the all the cap made.

I got to say I’m never in favor of dealing away draft picks . You choose the talent and you have the player under a favorable rookie contract for 4 years . Mingo Lance Milton now Jones what does it get you .

im not either but Daks got 4 years at best and Jerry knows this. if he does go all in i hope its for actually talented player/s and not reclamation project like the players you named.

Almost every team has a guy on their roster that matches each of our guys
The only ones with any value are at in demand positions and are likely better left on our team as depth because their value is so low

Howell: 5th-6th
Turpin: 6th-7th
Schoon: 6th-7th
Carson: 7th
Bell: 7th
Mingo: 7th
Davis: 0-7th
Wheat: 0-7th
Toia: 0
Barron: 0
Clark: 0
James: 0
Liufau: 0
Milton: n/a
Land: n/a
Williams: n/a

Land and Milton can’t be traded and Williams is a Brown

Remedy your lack of draft picks through free agency. Sign some top tier talent instead of dumpster diving.
Free agency is dumpster diving

Rule if thumb is you pay for one full grade higher than what you get.

It’s the nature of the beast.

Depends on which free agent you sign. There are tiers in free agency and the Rams won two Super Bowls following that method.

Fishing? Shelton had been on the Cowboys radar. When they had a chance to get him they did and thought he was somewhat of a bargain as they expected him to go earlier.

If the Cowboys were interesting in Rasheed Walker they would have made him an offer. And we don't know if he would have accepted it or not. As we found out this year, not all FA's are interested in playing for the Cowboys.

I want to trade all our picks like the Rams I don’t really care about the future when the present is unclear.
The Rams can get away with it because, unlike Dallas, they can still draft well with their mid to late picks. Byron Young, Turner, Nacua, K. Williamson, etc...all drafted 3rd-6th round.

Cowboys have had hits in the mid round too from Osa to Bland to Flurnoy to Biadiz to Beebe to Overshown to Ferg…even found two all pros from the XFL.
Not buying that excuse.

One more OL injury, and you could be looking at Dallas needing to trade for OL depth, which could further weaken their picks for 2027 or, perhaps, 2028
