After 20+ years of the Cowboys not winning a Championship title or SB. Does the team or the organization over hype wins during the regular season. Do we treat wins as if we just won the SB? There has to be a happy medium. As a fan we just want answers to why this organization keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Organization can over hype at times, especially coming off the New Orleans game. As for the team, Cowboys are the youngest team in the NFL and while I understand the frustration of 20 plus years of failure I also know this young team has not been a big part of that 20 years plus of failure. Right now I'm very curious of how this team responds to an embarrassing loss like they had this past weekend.

In short, yes, this organization over-hypes regular season success. That’s the “carnival barker” mentality of our owner-GM. Instead of crowing about his team’s mid-season turnaround, Jerry should reserve celebrating until they actually win something of real consequence- like the playoffs.

Yes, the motivation and desire to win something significant will have to come from the team itself rather than from the owner and head coach.

Sorry not going to get into back handed remarks on Garrett or Jerry. I don't think Garrett lacks motivational skills, when this team was sitting 3-5 no one was giving them a chance at all and Garrett was able to keep this team from quitting on him. This past weekend I put it on Garrett and the coaching staff and the players themselves. To get this turned back around quickly it will take Garrett and his staff getting them ready for Tampa and these players going out and executing.

All teams have off days. I remember in 1992 when Jimmy Johnson’s team (one that was dominating people) went to play a terrible Atlanta team in their house and just stunk up the joint. They couldn’t do anything right. Jimmy was mad as hell.

It happens to all NFL teams from time to time though. Sometimes the other team is just up for it, and they put together a really good game plan for a particular team.

The fact that Indy is a solid, ascending team only makes it less surprising.

People freaking out about a loss after five straight wins is absolutely the height of lunacy.

You sure it was 92? I was at the game in 1992, when we knocked the snot out of them and clinched the NFCE. Emmitt had like 173 yards rushing, and Deion was on the Falcons sideline throwing benches after he fumbled a punt.

Maybe a different team?

this is a season team, not a winning the SB team. like the eagles are, if you win great, if you dont, no problem, just make sure the stadium fills up.

It could have been 93 maybe? I don’t know I’ll look it up.

What I do know is that they went and lost to a terrible Atlanta team at some point during their dynasty years.

It was 1993.

Dallas lost 27-14 that day and I remember how terrible and lost they looked. Didn’t even resemble the same team that rolled once Emmitt ended his holdout.

Thanks for catching that.

Yes I remember a game or 2 like that, just like we had.
I just know it was not he 92 game. Was traveling from South Florida to Ohio for Christmas, stopped in Atlanta. My brother in law had seats from his company he worked for. So we went to the game.

Fans were actually pretty decent. Gave me a hard time when we were down at the start of the game. But after we started kicking butt. They said, dang, you guys are very good.
Lady sat next to me, after I finished my beer, had a plastic cup from my beer. She said her friend's church group ran a beer concession, she was getting me beers for $1 as long as I used that same cup. They counted sales by cups used, like many theaters do.

On the train, their mass transit to the stadium, it was a fiery crowd, but all in fun. On the way back to the parking area on the train, they were all quiet. Just said how good we looked. No one talking crap.

LOL I could not recall either and had to look it up. They whoope ATL in 1992 and lost in 1993.

Do you remember how awful Jimmy’s team looked in that ‘93 loss to Atlanta? Like a different team.

I remember thinking that there was no way Dallas should’ve lost to that Falcon’s squad.

That’s around the time that I learned that all teams have off days and can look terrible.

I do and also remember the lone win in 89 against the Skins as well. That day really showed me a good team (skins 10-6) can have an off day against any team (boys 1-15).

All NFL teams put up stinkers, sure.

But that's not really the issue. The problem with the Colts game, for me, is that every flaw this team has - mostly on offense - materialized. That can happen at any time. At the end of the day, they lost in the red zone and, to a lesser degree, in the kicking game. That has been an issue all year.

Yep. Dallas had zero penalties and zero sacks in that Washington victory... AT Washington.

That also shows that you can never take an NFC East divisional matchup for granted. Those games are almost always close and the records just don’t matter.

It’s why I’m not simply counting the last game against the Giants as a win. Anything can happen in those games.

That is what usually happens when you just have a bad day.

I understand what you’re saying though. Still, it was just one of those games for Dallas.

The Colts offense whooped Dallas' defense between the 20s all day. Dallas had issues executing and adjusting to how the Colts were playing them. The Cowboys failed on Offense, Defense and Special teams. Saying it was ultimately due to redzone woes does not describe the whooping they took. They failed all over the field. They failed in preparing the game.

So the good news? There is some. It all means the same in the W/L column. The game against the Bucs they have the ability to close out the division and prove they can respond from being throughly embarrassed.

I was at that Atlanta game and was damn near thrown out of the stadium.
